"What's more effective and constructive is to work with the administration to get the policy in a good place and that's what we're doing," Ryan said in response to a reporter's question. "I think that's going to be more effective than trying to pass a piece of legislation that will not make it into law," he added.

Uh huh.

Your past attempts to partner with the unstable nut in the White House fill me with confidence.

"Oh no....we don't know what legislation to craft because we never know what Trump wants or will do!  He may also mean tweet us!"

The Republican Congress doesn't believe that it's an equal branch of government. That's been obvious for years.

U.S. farmers and other businesses in states that strongly supported Trump's election in 2016 have expressed concerns that their exports could be damaged by a trade war with China or European nations.

Is there a reason this worthless piece of shiat feels compelled to keep reminding us that he and the other Republicans in Congress are dickless?

They've acted as if they're the employees of the dementia patient in the White House since he waddled into it. They take advantage of every opportunity available to sniff his taint and proclaim it the sweetest perfume they've ever inhaled.

Is there really anyone left who doubts how much they love being his gimps?

He already thought he should be president in 2012.  Yes, he ran with Rmoney as VP but people who do that generally have those aspirations for the next step.  He's hoping people will forget that disaster too.

OK Paul, remember to be as vague as possible on that statement.  Why won't that legislation pass?  Make sure you don't accidentally say The Truth - that your Republican colleagues would oppose it, or that Trump would veto it.

Try as hard as you can to insinuate that it wouldn't pass because of some of that fictitious Democrat obstructionism you keep harping about.

I hope he'll only live in history books by that time.

Treason demands death.

2018-07-12 07:06:44 PM
Well, in theory the GOP-controlled Congress could pass a law barring President Trump from imposing those tariffs.  Trump, of course, would veto the law, which would then require a 2/3s majority in the House and Senate to override.  This would require a bipartisan agreement to get enough Democrat votes to pass.

Question 1: How many Democrats support free trade enough to caucus with the GOP on this issue?
Question 2: What would the GOP leadership have to give up to get those votes?

He doesn't think he could wrangle enough cats together to get a veto proof bill through so he's not even going to bother with anything at all.

Ryan is the epitome of the do-nothing GOP.  They're so afraid of being trashed by Trump on Twitter or during one of his Nuremberg Rallies, they can't do a thing.  They know Trump's cultist supporters will vote them out in favor of a yes-man at the drop of a hat.

The only reason they can't pass anything is because he is enforcing the totally bullshiat, made up in order to steal power, Hastert "rule". Because of that the Orwellianly named "Freedom caucus" can torpedo any bill which isn't batshiat crazy.

Normally with an administration as nuts as this one it would be trivial to come up with a compromise bill which put an end to this trade war farce - right over top of the tiny "Freedom" caucus. The POTUS' veto would be irrelevant, since a veto-proof bill would be easy to craft. Just keep it simple, sticking to this trade war that so few are in favor of.

But Ryan continues his blatant corruption instead, choosing to once again shield the POTUS and cripple the proper operation of our government.

The farked up thing is, after November, if the Dems take the house they should damn well continue the Hastert "rule" for the foreseeable future, and sideline the GOP right back. It sucks, but if you keep letting the other guys do dishonest shiat over and over and keep just reacting to it with restraint and proper governance in return when you have power then the bastards will win inch by inch until eventually you just will never get power back.

Democrats need to show that the GOP has gone too far, and pretty much throw almost every same dirty trick right back at the GOP until they are FORCED to agree to change the rules to outlaw that shiat. Keep doing it until they BEG you to stop the same shiat they've been doing and are so desperate that they will admit they were wrong to start that shiat and agree to end it once and for all, in law.

Until then we need to fark them right back just as hard.

Republicans have two directives:
1) screw little people over for their rich backers
2) line up behind the party leader

Trump is kind of violating #1 with these tariffs, but not everyone is hurt by the policies, and hey the rich got tax cuts.
