Why would you give Roseanne an Emmy nomination for playing herself with a marginally better wardrobe and (presumably) odor?

She's going to host, just watch. She'll come in on a giant motorized  MAGA hat and throw rolls of paper towels into the crowd. Mark my words.

No kidding. I found that show kind of by accident on Netflix and then I couldn't stop watching it. It is the best show that I've seen in a while, and not just because of the hot chicks.

I don't currently have Hulu, so I haven't watched A Handmaid's Tail.

Is it really so filled with good performances to have three nominations in each Best Supporting Actress and Best Guest Actress?

I mean, it certainly could be - I don't know.

But I'm enough of a cynic that I can't help but suspect there might be forces at work trying to stack the deck to get the show as many wins as possible due to the political climate.

The happiest moment I've had in the past two months was when I found out my OnDemand menu had been screwed up previously and there were four more episodes of season 2 I hadn't seen yet.

\Admittedly, it's been quite a rough couple of months
\\But the show really is that forking good.

Wow.  I'ma have to seriously consider going back to Hulu and checking it out.

\Been thinking about it anyway.
\\I've just about exhausted my interest in Netflix

I might tune in for that. I can't stand Trump or the MAGA shiat, but that would be farking hilarious to see.

I'm glad to see the Emmies finally figured out that Modern Family wasn't that good to begin with, and it's certainly gotten worse at it went along.

I'm not sure what their relative screen times were, but how anyone could have watched Jodie Comer in Killing Eve and thought, "Sandra Oh deserves an award" is beyond me.

Wait, what if this means that we are really in The Bad Place?

Laurie Metcalf was fantastic in Lady Bird.   Nails the financially stressed mom who's also a wee bit cray-cray role perfectly.

She should have won an Oscar for that.

Atomic Jonb: Snub?

This.  Even putting aside the titular actor's unconcealed RL shiatbaggery, which was a completely open fact and not even slightly a secret before they started the project, as was her, again, completely open and unconcealed virulent racism... was there anything in the actual product itself that ever seemed like it would be award-worthy in any fashion?

I mean, it was a generic stock sitcom running on cliches that were dated two decades ago.  If there was an audience for that I'm not gonna hate, you do you, but at some point you have to recognize the line between you liking something because you think it's fun for personal reasons, and something actually being good in any larger sense.  I don't throw a crying fit because the oscars are somehow "snubbing" the latest entry in the japanese Kaiju meta-franchise every year, man.

In other news, it's absolutely stupid that Thandie Newton only gets a Supporting Actress nod. She's amazing.

Oh, and if The Americans don't win this year I fully sanction next year's Emmys to be hacked and all the awards going to Worker & Parasite.

Concur. I hope Laurie gets the Emmy as she has been great playing Rosanne's sister since forever!

That's how I felt when Christina Agullera won the Best New Artist Grammy over Susan Tedeschi. My boycott endures to the surprise of, and notice of, no one.

The thing I like most is that she plays Sheldon Cooper's mother in "The Big Bang Theory", and her daughter, Zoe Perry, plays that part in "Young Sheldon".

And I have to say, I wouldn't be upset at being offered the "meat" position in that particular familial sandwich.

Or is that kind of talk verboten on NuFark?

What would have made it funny is if they had the show nominated under limited series.....

You can't call them that anymore.  The accepted term now is "geologic décolletage".

I will say that...given the performances nominated...definitely.  Particularly Yvonne Strahovski -- who has surprisingly killed it this season.  She's had to whiplash between very conflicting emotions.  Frankly...the 'Visit to Canada' episode alone should win it for her -- you could feel her utter denial at how much she hated her Gilead life...and how much she loathed not being able to outwardly loathed how shiatty Gilead life was for her.
