"What made it magical was that it had a trap door," Christie told Fox News. "It had a secret panel. It had a game room where every game was available without ever having to put a quarter in it. It had a fireman's pole. It was just a really cool place if you were a kid. It had a bowling alley, an underground pool - it was pretty fun."

I hadn't thought about it but now that you ask I think I would have to thoroughly clean and sanitise the fireman's pole in Hugh Hefner's house before using it.

Where's that picture for showing your children why they should work hard in school? The one with the skeevy old dude with the standard blonde on his arm? I'd imagine Ms Hefner took that lesson to school with her every day.

Are you kidding, think of all the virology grants you could get with that thing!  I would be there are at least 20 different viruses unknown to mankind on it.  It's a goldmine!

My dad worked in the Playboy Building in Chicago.  I told every guy in kindergarten it was just scantily clad ladies walking around everywhere.  Still couldn't compete with the kid whose dad worked for Brach's Candies.

In the basement of that kid's house was a treasure chest of candy.  I seen it with my own eyes, I did.  Insufferable prick the kid was but on a special day, pops would bring up that footlocker, open it so all could gaze upon the bounty within.  He would bade us to partake of some of the treasure.

"A yard of candy dots for your son's best friend, Harry Freakstorm please" says I.

Prick:  Who are you?

Prick's dad.; You get a foot of the candies and count yerself lucky.

Every so often I'll look up the name of one of the many pricks I went to grade-school with to see what they're up to these days. Some of them actually did well for themselves but the worse of them tended to become losers or ne'er-do-well's or wound up in a nasty divorce (of their own fault) or been arrested a few times. I smile to myself when I see that happen.

Fun fact: the 4 years of high school I went through produced (for now) 3 permanent members of the Michigan sex offender registry. Two of them are on there for raping children 12 years old or younger.

My wife worked for Brach's.  Taste-testing for R&D was fun - new, experimental, mostly safe!  Tasting for QA was not - "Today we'll taste all the various ways peanuts can go bad, so you can quickly identify stale, burned, or rancid nuts by taste!"

My parents used to take care of an elderly gentleman, and when he died, his son just gave my parents of lot of stuff.  Welp, my dad died on May 15th of this year, and I was tasked with going through "Emil's" stuff.  Eight full boxes of playboy, penthouse, most in their original cover.  40 year collection of playboy, in mint condition.

wtf do i do with it?  Seems like a waste to toss it, and a lot of work to e-bay it.

You'd probably get the most for it if it's sold individually, but I'm sure there are some collectors who'd take the lot from you, depending on what's in it that's worth anything. That said, everyone thinks their Playboys are worth more than they are, with very very few exceptions.

Every now and then I hear about people I went to school with too, one of the most dramatic stories was this one guy whose family had money and he would brag about how much he had, how often he went to the movies, show off all his new toys and just be an ass. Around HS he moved to another part of the county and went to a different school, so no more lording over us with his fortune, but by then I had just ignored him. Fast forward about ten years and I am driving home from work and see this homeless guy that looks like him. I asked some people about it and they said it probably was him since he had gone hard into drugs and his family cut him off.

When I was around 10 or 11 one of my friend's neighbors made a porn wall on the back of his house.  Just random porn pics taped to the back of the house, on the outside of the house mind you.  That stayed there for 3 or 4 months, with new stuff replacing weather worn stuff, until that kid's AC unit went out and the repair man told his mom.  That kid wasn't allowed outside of his house until the school year started and then he was only allowed to go to the bus stop.

As far as "woods porn" goes...there was this old ramshackle flea market that we used to steal crap from in the middle of the night (we were all under 13 at the time...we all did dumb and bad crap as kids).  One night we hit up this one stand that we thought had old 80's DOS games but instead had nothing but porn; so we created the neighborhood woods porn stash since we couldn't sneak 150 lbs of porno into my friend's house.  We left the stash in the woods and stuff would go missing and new stuff would appear.  It was geocaching for perverts before we knew what geocaching was.

My dad had the "gentleman's" porn collection...Playboy and Penthouse with  the odd "Army Lesbians in Love" backroom-style magazine thrown in. The woods porn collection near my house had the more "exotic" titles...Oui (which we pronounced "Ow-Wee" or "Oh-You-Eye"), Screw, Hustler, etc. Never knew where they came from although none of us really cared

I am a Meat Popsicle!: Sgygus: The Googles Do Nothing: stir22: My parents used to take care of an elderly gentleman, and when he died, his son just gave my parents of lot of stuff.

I would suggest you toss it.

No no no.  Leave it in the woods for the sake of future generations.

Jesus! Did any kid who grew up near any size patch of woods *not* have "woods porn"?

When I was in jr. high, my friend and I found a stack at the high school football field. No woods near town to stash them. Eventually mom found my share and they were gone.

what never sleeps: Harry Freakstorm: Still couldn't compete with the kid whose dad worked for Brach's Candies.

My wife worked for Brach's.  Taste-testing for R&D was fun - new, experimental, mostly safe!  Tasting for QA was not - "Today we'll taste all the various ways peanuts can go bad, so you can quickly identify stale, burned, or rancid nuts by taste!"

when  I was a kid friends mother was a manger for a DQ instead of throwing out all the stuff that was made wrong she bring it home and store in a big frezzer.  Us kids would go over and have a fun time.

Never found any in the forest next to my house that i spent a large amount of my childhood in, but i had internet by the time I needed porn so maybe I just didn't look? I did find a grow op once, then again i do live in BC so thats not too odd.

Nurglitch: Where's that picture for showing your children why they should work hard in school? The one with the skeevy old dude with the standard blonde on his arm? I'd imagine Ms Hefner took that lesson to school with her every day.

You leverage your fortunes in Cable TV nudie crap & the damn Internet destroys yer whole business model. It's amazing how much space in vintage Playboy is devoted to stereos, though...

My first watching of porn was when I went to visit my cousin and his folks on the west coast.  I stayed there for about a week and one day my aunt and uncle had stuff to do so they're like you and your cousin are in charge of the house for the day.  Anyhow around noon, my cousin is like hey I found my folk's porn movies want to watch?  This was back in the day of VHS and without knowing it at the time, my aunt and uncle had a fair bit of the "classics" - Debbie Does Dallas, the Devil in Miss Jones, the Alice in Wonderland porn parody.

Anyhow, we're both watching porn.  But as far as I recall it wasn't terribly titillating either because I was pre-puberty and second everyone looked dated - even watching this in the 80's.  Anyhow my cousin is just laughing his ass off with his scooby  doo type laugh and I'm kind of watching it with academic interest, since I've never really seen people do it.  However, after maybe half an hour, my cousin is like, "well, I'm hungry, I'm gonna make pancakes". He goes make pancakes which is sort of impressive for a 12 year old, and I have this memory of sitting eating a stack of pancakes on a TV tray watching the second half of Devil in Miss Jones.   Afterwards I think we then went to the park or hit the arcade.

Did the pancakes have unusual/uncooked gooey white streaks in it?

Dick Gozinya: padraig: Dick Gozinya: Fun fact: the 4 years of high school I went through produced (for now) 3 permanent members of the Michigan sex offender registry. Two of them are on there for raping children 12 years old or younger.

This fact is not fun at all !

ok. Maybe not "fun". But it is interesting considering my high school had a total of about 400 kids across all 4 class years.

One of my classmates blew up an agricultural weigh station.
