I told my coworkers the difference between murder and industrial accident was paperwork.
Just as we went into an insurance seminar.

"Adams was living at the hotel, a men's only hotel often used as temporary or low-income housing, at the time, but there were no suspects or witnesses."

A men's only hotel used to house transients, this guy was living there, but "there were no suspects." Was Chief Wiggum investigating this case?

He can spend the rest of his life in prison. I'm OK with that.

See, that's why you need a gun.... it just makes killing easier.

WTFDYW: Dramatize much subby? They had no leads. What do you want them to do? Make them up out of thin air and arrest the wrong person?

Usually someone black or Mexican.

Jiro Dreams Of McRibs: There was a guy who got away with murder by burying the body in a freshly-dug open grave the night before a funeral.
As good as that sounds on-paper, seems like it would be fairly easy to get caught unless one was already staff at the cemetery. Even if one isn't caught trespassing in the cemetery, if the depth of the grave is suitably wrong or the 'floor' of the hole is misshapen the next morning when they go to set up the lowering mechanism prior to the casket's delivery, it might prompt someone to check to see why.

You sound pretty well-informed about this. Where do you bury your bodies?

ThatGuyFromTheInternet: MikeyFuccon: Adams, who is currently homeless and has lived in California, Oregon and Washington, had attempted to turn himself in for the killing before.
In other words, he's getting old, and prison is looking better than the streets every day. Not a huge mystery when you think about it.

Well, now I'm starting to think he's innocent.

I'm not saying that is the case here, but it certainly does happen.  If investigators are competent and honest then they will have looked into that possibility.
