Oh hey, another Republican crook so dirty that even his lawyers will need lawyers.
Yes, I know. I'm sorry, "Republican crook" is redundant.

2018-07-11 02:43:31 PM
So what are they going to do to him about it?

2018-07-11 02:46:53 PM

Benevolent Misanthrope: So what are they going to do to him about it?

I think we both know the answer to that question.

Nothing.

2018-07-11 03:19:49 PM
BUT HIS EMAILS!

SUBPOENA THE LAPTOP!

Him? It's another brick in the wall.

His lawyers? Fitting them for orange jumpsuits, too. Helping your client commit a crime is a crime.

2018-07-11 04:07:32 PM
And he admitted that in phone calls he knew were monitored?

God, but the Redcaps are dumb.

Not only that, but essentially that makes the lawyers co-conspirators and is a route to pierce attorney-client privilege.

You misunderstand my question.  Not "what could they do", nor "what crime does this constitute", but "What will they do?".  To which ecmorandomnumbershas responded correctly.

Nothing.  They will do nothing.

Maybe instead of putting two ankle monitors on him, one should go on his lawyer.

Manafort is a sociopath, and a dumb one.

Saying every Republican is a crooked as Manafort is like saying every Democrat is a sex addict/predator like Bill Clinton.

Benevolent Misanthrope: So what are they going to do to him about it?

They're moving him to a different jail.

A federal judge in Alexandria has ordered Paul Manafort to be moved to the city jail, although Manafort has asked to stay in a Northern Neck facility where prosecutors say he is receiving special treatment.

Judge T.S. Ellis wrote in a filing published Wednesday that Manafort's "access to counsel and his ability to prepare for trial trumps his personal comfort."

[...]

He noted that the Alexandria jail has housed many high-profile detainees, "including foreign and domestic terrorists, spies and traitors."

Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne said he was "aware that he's been remanded to our custody and when he arrives he'll go through the proper classification process. We'll house him properly in order to meet everyone's needs."

LOCK HIM UP!

Wait, what?

2018-07-11 05:23:20 PM

I recommend sending him to GITMO.

Man, they're going to have to put him in solitary confinement within a faraday cage at this rate.
He can't seem to help himself.

2018-07-11 05:25:28 PM
Is this an actual crime? It's shady for sure but was he prohibited from communicating from the outside world?

Well, he's a rich white guy. He's gotten used to not having any accountability.

It's why so many other white guys voted for the dementia patient in the White House. They don't like being responsible for shiat. Even the shiat they actually did. They want other people to be punished, not them. Duh. It's why they cheer like a bunch of farking morons when the dementia patient in the White House does or says something stupid. White guys really miss having everyone else treat them like the smartest people on earth just because they're white and a have a dick. They really want that feeling back.

Judges and the Bar do not take attorney misconduct lightly.  If this is true, they're in big trouble.

I can get behind this idea.

"He would've been granted parole, but he manafortted himself into five more years in jail."

- He doesn't realize his e-mails are still being monitored despite being in prison; they didn't say "welp, no way he can e-mail now. Let's stop checking it."

- He doesn't realize that you don't say anything on the prison phone you don't want prosecutors to know.

simplest solution- no lappy during visits. His lawyers assistant can take notes^.

"Notes" , kids, are old skool handwritten emails that rarely suffer packet loss and are not subject to anything except fire or spilled drinks, possibly the occasional animal that eats paper

I don't know about the US, but in many jurisdictions communications are severely restricted pre-trial (in theory) to avoid things like witness intimidation and collaboration between defendants in the same case.

Even after being sentenced, incoming and outgoing mail is read, calls are monitored, and smuggling out mail (which is in effect what Manafort was doing) is an indictable offence irrespective of who does it.

Which then raises the question - why can't he just dictate emails to be sent from his personal account by his attorneys?

It's like one of those old Warner Bros cartoons where if a baby is unattended to for more than a second, the baby will be holding knives and flamethrowers while operating a bulldozer.

Wasn't the main reason the judge ruled that he was going to jail was because he couldn't stop getting in contact with witnesses despite being told to stop and this wasn't farking middle school? Can't wait to hear what the judge says about this.

Are you trying to imply they are dumber-Er-est than this? I guess the American way is to be best at what you do, applies to stupid all the same. You can always reach new level of idiocy I guess, is that still considered a win?

Anything the republicans accuse someone else of doing, they are doing themselves.
Anything they claim they are, turns out to be the exact opposite.

This all started with Nixon claiming he was not a crook. Every republican heard that, and immediately decided to become a crook.

Forget a trial. Let's just execute him. Do ya think he should be executed? I bet we can execute him now.

Because that triggers the crime-fraud exception for attorney-client privilege?

He could, but in my jurisdiction this would be an offence too, and one for which the attorney could be indicted.

If that e-mail contained a coded instruction to kill someone, and they were killed, the person who sent the e-mail would be indicted as a co-conspirator to the crime.

/never pass on messages to third parties from people inside jail unless you want to run the risk of going there yourself

The is not how an innocent man acts, who once worked for free for another man who is equally as innocent and acts as such.

Except we have plenty of examples besides Manafort, whereas outside of Clinton, we don't have as many.

The GOP bench for crookedness is deep.

It's literally right there in the tweet. He's in solitary and the jail and judge both ordered him not to tamper with witnesses. Emailing those people is literally why he's in jail right now. The judge was very clear on this, on 3 separate occasions. I'm not him, and I know his rules better than he does.

Yes.  Manafort is currently in jail rather than on double ankle bracelets because he defied the judge and attempted to tamper with witnesses.  That was why he was locked up.  The fact that he keeps doing it and his lawyers are in on it...  It just...

The GOP seems to have more sex addicts and predators than the Democrats.  Especially ones who like other boys.

And ones who think it is ok for the team wrestling doctor to cup your balls for 20 minutes, for "science".

The seven GOP members who went to Russia, who are now saying that since sanctions do not work on Russia, we should not sanction them.  Are all crooked for being complicity in Trump's dog and pony show saying Russia is our friend.

And anyone who continues to ignore Trump and the GOP being complicit in all of this, is crooked.

So yeah, most Republicans.

Don't you have a Larry Craig Wide Stance meeting to attend?

I'm not sure what the judge can do at this point--he's already lost his bail.  Maybe a fine?  Will this count against him at sentencing?

... In one of the phone calls, Manafort told the caller that he is treated like a "VIP" in prison, has a self-contained unit with a private bathroom and shower, and is not required to wear a prison uniform, according to the filing.

The filing also asserts that Manafort has a personal telephone, laptop with extension court [sic] for private use in his own unit and access to all necessary documents.

From here.
