Ooh!  Ooh!  I got bold predictions too!

I predict the NCAA will be hit with a massive lawsuit in-season and will be ordered to start paying players but they refuse until several athletic directors are dragged naked in a muddy field behind a 4 by 4 truck piloted by Vinny Testaverde.

Book it.

Throw it.

Ouch.

Book hurts.

Haha no, I'm not counting on shiat except the fabled return to glory of the best football program from the first decade of the 20th century being put off by another year. That said, the bestest coach to ever place fourth in their division got some help on offense so who really knows what could happen?

Damn, the best time of the year can't get here quickly enough. I had Ohio State - Illinois from last year on in the background a few nights ago, that is like a junkie stealing their mom's car and selling it for fifty bucks.

wait, I thought we needed to preserve amateurism because otherwise the big schools would just get all the best players year in and year out and there would be no competitive balance and the same handful of schools would win all the time

Old bowl tie-in's, undefeated G5 teams playing the top at-large in a G5-aligned bowl, and playoffs afterwards with any undefeated team, no matter their conference or rankings.

Cure: #4 Alabama vs #12 UCF
Fiesta: #10 Miami vs #6 Wisconsin or #9 Penn St vs #7 Auburn (Wisconsin choice)
Peach: #14 Norte Dame vs #1 Clemson
Cotton: #10 Miami vs #6 Wisconsin or #9 Penn St vs #7 Auburn (Wisconsin choice)
Rose: #8 USC vs. #5 Ohio St
Sugar: #11 Washington vs #3 Georgia
Orange: #13 Stanford vs #2 Oklahoma

Top 4 ranked bowl winners, or Top 3 ranked bowl winners and UCF (if they beat Alabama) are in a 4-team playoff.

Jeebus Woody. You need to medicate, seriously. :)

I share your dislike for "that school up north" (as you guys put it), and I love your passion for the game, but you gotta relax a little bit. You're devolving from a knowledgeable guy that loves college football to that guy 'that just does his anti-Michigan schtick.' Especially since they haven't really been relevant for the last decade. Pace yourself, man.

It's a good school. Tell him to stay out of Northport. and off U avenue before a diuretic test of any kind. Generally it's just a college campus. With all the college campus distractions. Sororities full of blondes, Frats full of daddy's boys, big buildings and open green space, nearby off campus housing. So it's a frosh paradise and a parent's nightmare.

Lol -- no.

I've long held the belief Vanderbilt is kept in the SEC to read things to the other teams.

The SEC will never go for that. Under the current system they know that they're guaranteed one of the four slots and, in a good year, two of them (like last year). Expanding the playoff just increases the odds that a non-SEC school will win the championship.

And this is why the SEC is bad for college football in general...

It keeps me warm. Three undefeated teams losing to Michigan in the 90's and being knocked out of national title shots, two of those losses to inarguably inferior teams on paper, produced scars that do not heal. I am Conan, and my revenge tour over Thulsa Doom is still in the Wheel of Pain phase where I haven't even hit puberty yet.

I just learned the other day that there was a love interest plot with Powers Boothe and Lea Thompson/Jennifer Grey that was filmed and then subsequently dropped from Red Dawn. I'm blanking on which one it was but yeah, probably a good idea that it was cut and that we'll never see it.

Here is a list of the non-SEC teams playing SEC teams on Nov. 17th, 2019:

The Citadel
Liberty
Idaho
UMass
Middle Tennessee
Rice
Chattanooga
UAB

Nothing like having a second bye week before your rivalry game in SEC-land.

Just another reason to tune out CFB.  The NFL has all of the same problems (concussion denial, domestic violence, general thuggery), but the final four teams is still up for debate.

Just skip Sept through December and jump to Alabama-Clemson.  You'll save the long term health for thousands of college kids.

Like I said, I get it. But pace yourself, dude. We're still over a month away from kickoff and you're already bringing out A list material. Save it for November when it is relevant and meaningful.

As for Red Dawn, there were quite a few indicators of a love plot between Lea Thompson and Powers Boothe in the film, I thought it was pretty much assumed that was the case. About the only thing they could have cut out would be a hardcore sex scene.

I still hang onto my pipe dream:

16 teams
10 conference champions and 6 at-larges
Use the committee for at-large picks and seedings
No special treatment for Notre Dame, they can join a conference or be at the committee's mercy
Higher seed gets home field advantage until the title game (which is why the SEC would scream bloody murder, wouldn't want them to play in actual weather in December/January)

Fair enough, point taken.

In other news, our new neighbors are Michigan State folks. Unsolicited, they dropped off some burgers after we got home on July 4th. Turns out that he and his wife were actually at the 1998 game and that despite their joy, they seem to be good people.

Despite what the media, and the rest of the B1G wants you to believe, we aren't all child molester enabling pieces of shiat. But thats how it will go for the next decade or so, I guess. I expect nothing but the worst from opposing fans this year and many more to come, especially from those assholes in Ann Arbor who are practically foaming at the mouth to bust out their best Larry Nasser insults and comebacks.

You personally know what you did and didn't do, and also what you would and wouldn't permit had you knowledge of it. I have no reason to believe you wouldn't support a legitimate investigation into the matter or to contest the assumedly valid findings of that inquiry. I fully realize that it is much easier said than done but as long as it is remembered who you are as a person I would not overly concern yourself over the words and actions of those looking for cheap shots.

If it makes you feel better, an unranked MSU team tore out U-M's heart in an even worse way in 1990.

Wasn't as satisfying as the blocked punt to win in 2015, though.

Was that the dropped pass as a Michigan WR was backing into the endzone? A black and white photo that somebody (you?) posted last year.

Somewhere, there is a factory where Wisconsin makes their gigantic RB's and impossibly good white WR's and TE's. There are people stationed around the world ready to do their best Ripley with a flamethrower impression should the factory ever be found.

I can't remember his name but Wisconsin had a gigantic white DT pressed into service as a RB after some injuries. Dude was bulldozing people when he wasn't hopping over them. It was a real WIsconsin or Minnesota type name too from what I remember. I don't remember who they were playing but this was maybe ten years ago, does that ring a bell at all?
