So the Blue Wave in November is going to consist of Cortez getting elected to dozens dozens and of offices she is ineligible to hold ?

"There were no candidates running on the Reform Party ticket in the 15th Congressional District, which was holding primaries and encouraging unaffiliated voters to submit their preferred candidates as a way to bring attention to what they say are broken election laws governing primaries in New York State, according to local news outlet City & State New York. "

So she beat out Mickey Mouse and I. C. Weiner.  New York state politics is weird.  I've never really understood the fusion concept either.

Hoo boy, I cannot wait for the Hillary/Establishment Dem Comrades to tell us all about how a more progressive and left-leaning Democratic Party is bad and we should feel bad for not supporting the current leadership.

/it's like certain usual posters in these threads want to divide the Left by being annoyingly hostile towards any voices that suggest the Left try anything other than the same failed strategies

I dunno, more like we can only watch those who should be standing up to the bullies instead being kicked repeatedly in the crotch and then flinching away every time they have any opportunity to show the bullies a damn good lesson, before we snap and shove them aside and start punching Nazis.

She's also far smarter than Trump.  I mean, so is a barnacle, so that's a low bar to hurdle, but she also gives a shiat about people, is far more likeable, and has more realistic ideas.  And, presumably, she's not a misogynistic, racist, xenophobic piece of shiat, so there's that.

If Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez were the democrat running in my district, I would happily vote for her over a republican.  What I wouldn't do is stay at home and pout because my preferred candidate lost nor I wouldn't write in some 3rd candidate to send a message.

But I was told progressives can't win elections, and that only the moderates can be trusted to do it?

But don't you understand? We just need to let Joe Manchin compromise a little further with the GOP, then conservatives are sure to understand we're just trying to be besties!

TFA is about how Osacio-Cortez was the write-in candidate in the neighboring district to her own, and she won that primary too. That makes her the...3rd party candidate.

Democratic incumbents are vulnerable because their base is looking for more decisive action than what current party orthodoxy allows for.

I was curious what our fine upstanding leader in the House had to say about Orcasio-Cortez's win.

"They made a choice in one district. So, let's not get yourself carried away as an expert on demographics and the rest of that. We have an array of genders, generations, geography and the rest, opinion, in our caucus and we're very proud of that."

Now that's the kind of inspirational leadership and raising of morale that wins elections!

At least for Congress in one district or another.
