If only there was some way a sitting Republican senator could somehow influence government policy.

Yeah, I have a very difficult time trusting anything McCaine says.

McCain will never actually do anything again.  His last vote in the Senate was December 7th last year.

And his cancer is pretty advanced by now, which would mean pain medications and possible anti-seizure drugs. He has outlived the general survivability of GBM (13 months), which is the usual time from diagnosis to death. Location of tumor and individual response to surgery/chemo/radiation can prolong the inevitable but, GBM always wins.
Sorry, not sorry McCain.

Our relationship to Germany has certainly been on rockier ground. We were pretty pissed when they bombed Pearl Harbor.

No, it should have struck him at least before he fathered Meghan.

He talks the talk, but does not walk the walk.

Such a maverick. I'm going to go with "F*ck you" on this one. Do something about it or shut the f*ck up. We all know which option McCain and every other spineless republican will choose.

The problem is, every time McCain is on the verge of being worth a damn, his brain kicks in and he remembers that he's a Republican...so party over country..rinse and repeat.

His usefulness to the U.S. is probably greater where he can't vote and can only criticize fellow Republicans, tbh.  With a few notable exceptions that he gets too much credit for, he is in lockstep with the party leaders.

Yep.  This goes on the long long list of moral stands John McCain almost took.

I do if they ride false patriotism to positions of power and then use that power for self-enrichment while shiatting on the people they're supposed to be helping.  May McCain burn in the Hell I wish I still believed in.

Just because a Republican disagrees with Trump, it doesn't mean that they're no longer Republicans or that they should be expected to go along with Democrats on unrelated issues.  They can disagree on Trump's pick for the Supreme Court, but still go with vote with Republicans on a farm bill.

That said, a general rebellion among Republicans against Trump is due.  You can't really expect it though with Democrats basically rolling over like a Basset Hound getting a belly rub.

Yet still not bad enough to remove the dementia patient in the White House. The obviously senile president, who isn't really running things, it seems clear.

The people really running this country? The unelected committee of racist assholes closest to the dementia patient in the White House, some elected racist assholes (Turtle et al) and Russia's president.

Those are the people really running things. So while you're frothing about the dementia patient in the White House -- and I farking hate him, too -- remember to shiat some rage onto the assholes who are also responsible.

Yeah, I can see it. My mother is currently being treated for pancreatic cancer, and she gets some great drugs.

I would prefer that McCain watch his entire legacy die in front of him while he dies in pain.

He's not worth the paper his death certificate will be printed on.

McCain: "I am speaking out against this thing the Republican president is doing"
Also McCain: He's already voted FOR the thing he's speaking AGAINST.

Party before country. Always and forever. And he helped further the dumbing of American politics by bringing Sarah Palin and her brand of grifters into the political mix.

He won't be missed. My only regret is that his grave will be in Arlington, which will make it incredibly hard for people to relieve themselves on it.

By the way, all the reports of John Kelly giving disapproving looks when Trump was saying shiat has been deemed Fake News. He was just mad at getting a "Continental" spread:

McCain has survived past the normal period for this form of cancer.  That is because he has access to cutting edge medical treatment.  Because he is rich.  Treatment he has helped deny to others for the simple fact they are not rich.

I have a hard time feeling sympathy for a person like that.

Of course I am also not Christian so it is not so much a problem for me if I don't have sympathy for him.

It's largely McCain's fault we're even in this mess to begin with.

He could have picked almost anyone to be his running mate in 2008. He decided to appeal to the mouth-breathers who would have voted against Obama regardless, by selecting one of their own to have a voice on the national stage; now one of them is president, a bunch are in his administration, and the rest are emboldened to engage in their deplorable behavior.

F*ck John McCain. What ever sacrifices he may have made during his military career are moot, because he planted the seeds of derp, and Trump-brand Nazism is the harvest. I hope he spends his final moments awake, aware, and in excruciating pain.

/and since someone is gonna chime in to point out that someone other than McCain picked Palin as his running mate, know that he was (at least nominally) in charge of his campaign and could have rejected her in favor of someone else, someone competent

The West will probably survive Trump.

Might not survive the next Trump.

Western nations need to get damned serious about rooting out fascism now if they expect to be relevant to the future of the planet. Harden your hearts and do it. They are a mortal threat and should be treated as such.
