That's what the bartender provides, "on the house", to ornery/rowdy customers.

I order a Campari and soda when I don't want to drink.  It's very nasty.

An acquaintance considers himself an artisinal bartender, and he's constantly coming up with oddball drinks.

I think the worst one was a sort of 'old fashioned' based whisky drink, but the 'kicker' was a spray of aromatic tobacco. It was supposed to evoke 'whisky and cigars' without actually having to smoke, but it tasted like someone put their cigar out in the drink.

That's why I generally stick to simple drinks. Cheap well bourbon and a splash of coke with a lime.

Getting a little tired of the Bloody Mary trend where the drinks come filled with burgers, fries, shrimp, etc. A celery stalk and a couple of olives are plenty.

A cement mixer. But that is a gross joke shot you buy a friend on their birthday, so it might not count.

it coagulates in your mouth. it's bad.

Anyhow, A BMW - Bailey's, Malibu, Whisky. If you're too slow it coagulates in the glass. If you're too fast it coagulates in your stomach. You only get it just right if you leave it on the bar as you walk out the door.

My guilt pleasure drink is a tall boy of Modelo Picante Chelada.  I catch so much shiat from my fellow beer snob friends but it's so good.  The Budweiser ones are absolutely disgusting though.

Had a guy in our fraternity who flat out refused to drink alcohol neat. It HAD to be mixed with something. So hanging in his room before Christmas as a junior and the only thing to mix with the vodak was frozen broccoli. He put the vodak and the broccoli in the blender. That was far worse than the year before, when he mixed Everclear with strawberry, blueberry, and lime yogurt.

There was a bar in Louisville that catered to the hungover crowd.  Guys would get kicked out of the bar at closing time, sleep in their cars for 4 hours, then go back into the bar at 6:00 AM, and have "Red Eyes," a V8 can dumped in a mug of beer, till they deemed themselves sober enough to go into work.

I went to college at Western Illinois U and the Purple Pride bar had these drinks called Lunchboxes.  It was half beer, half orange juice, and a shot of amaretto.

I once ordered a Belgian beer that I'd never heard of on the theory that there were no bad Belgian beers. It turned out to be a raspberry-infused beer. A diet raspberry-infused beer.

People, you haven't lived until you've made yourself drink shiat like that.

I had one with hot sauce, some other shiat but no clam juice. Basically a Bloody Mary with beer. Sounded gross but it was awesome.

But the hot sauce was doing most of the heavy lifting in that drink, substitute the clam juice for the hot sauce and it might be terrible.

Which jack(s) were you?

Worst drink I ever saw served (due to someone who shouldn't have been behind the bar) was on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Friend ordered a vodka martini at the poolside bar and had to tell the bartender what to put in it. The bartender ran it (including olives) through the frozen drink machine that automatically adds ice and blends, then poured it into a commemorative hurricane glass before we knew what was happening.

A Late 60's or so guy sat next to me at an outside beach bar and ordered a Glenlivet Pina Colada.  The bartender made it, no questions asked.  She clearly knew this guy.

I was so horrified/intrigued that I had to order one too.  I was hoping for some sort of Reese's "you got your chocolate in my peanut butter" moment.  That, by some miracle, this was a rich, sweet, smokey, coconut, pineapple ambrosia that had previously been undiscovered.

Big let down.

The flavor of the Glenlivet was completely masked by the Pina Colada part which I am guessing was this guy's goal.

Amateur hour stuff ... drink decent booze as is, or at the very most, with a bit of ice (if it's rum or vodka). But bourbon and scotch and rye and Irish whiskey should be consumed neat.

If you can't handle that due to hangovers or whatever, just have beer or wine.

I once ordered a Manhattan in Lahina, (Maui)
Instead of a tumbler, it came in in one of those fluted pina colada glasses complete with fruit salad, flowers, and. two umbrellas.
It was funny, because I was eating lunch with my dad, who is hella old school, and it looked like I had ordered the Liberace special.

Went to a festival once where someone was passing around a mixture of everclear and maple syrup. Dangerous stuff since despite being mixed at about a one to one ratio you could barely taste the alcohol.

Used to be a company in my town, "Home Juice" that had returnable jugs of, well, juice.  Their lime juice would hide the taste of alcohol to the point you could mix a drink like 5 parts vodka, one part Home Juice.  I once got so drunk on this stuff that I had to walk my bicycle about a mile home, cause I was too drunk to ride.

PreMortem: Tequila
Tabasco
Egg

Wow, that's awful. Obviously should be using Cholula instead of Tabasco when eggs are involved.

Back in college, a buddy and I decided to do our own gin & tonic jello shots without doing any research on it (and this was before I learned to cook, so we were bringing approximately zero knowledge to bear on this problem). We brought the appropriate amount of Bombay Sapphire to a simmer and mixed it straight with lime jello and sugar. Turns out that will never, ever set, but instead forms a slimy, boozy, overly sweet mess.

/yes, we tried to power through it anyway
