(Daily Grindhouse)   You remember LaserDisc games like Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, and The Spectre Files: Deathstalker. Well, you would remember the last one if it hadn't been sitting in a garage for 23 years   ( dailygrindhouse.com) divider line

Anybody remember this one? (I know it's not a laserdisc game). Even as I was playing it as a kid I was thinking "Wow, this is wildly inappropriate"

As blatant as the toy-selling was, the series was incredibly well-written.  And Straczynski brought in a lot of the production staff when he started working on Babylon 5.

I want that game; I used to spend so many quarters on it back in the day. As far as I know, there's no legal port of it.

Isn't 23 years like 10 years short of the heyday of laserdisc games? I mean, I think Soulcalibur May have come out 23 years ago.

farkin' hell, I had that and the toy jet that came with it.  Being seven, I had no clue how it worked and the first time I "lost," and the pilot ejected, I freaked out and never played with it again.

Sometime when I was a kid around 87 or 88 I picked up one of the Action Max "consoles" at Big Lots for cheap. The video production on the tapes was hilariously bad.

I had one of the Pioneer Laseractive with the Sega cartridge...I got it when they were closing them out, and it included all the original Star Wars movies.

Sewer Shark, Ground Zero Texas, and Mad Dog McCree strangely absent from the list.

Props to the Night Trap reference. I remember renting that from Blockbuster when I stayed over at my friends house and his mom saw us playing and flipppppped out.

Damn good story and link, Subby. Loved discovering this - being able to pilot your own episode of Kolchak, Braindead 13 before Braindead 13, seriously cool. I hope that this makes it to home gaming.

Starring Paul Gleason as Stewart Cavanaugh, Private Detective. Plus a very young Lea Thompson. 1982.

You guys are confusing Sega's "video cd" games with big laserdisks.

At least for the home user. dragon's lair etc...did use the full laserdisk. (which was about the size of a LP).

And that...
I had one of the Pioneer Laseractive with the Sega cartridge..

Was like they only sold 12 of them.

No, I sold my Dragons Lair machine two years ago, and my MACH 3 about nine years ago.  The Daphne emulator is good enough, and I needed basement space more than I needed nostalgia.

Way before its time, a dark gritty post apocalyptic kids show that had its final episode kill one of the characters.  The toy was really well done and how it interacted with the TV show and the VHS training videos that you could get was really cool.  I had this video along with a bunch of the toys.
