fusillade762: Isn't that basically a ballista?

No, a ballista is a crossbow writ large. This is a wrist rocket writ extra-large.

I thought at first he cnced the trigger, but all of that was done on an scroll saw. Damn fine woodworking skills.

Other than that, I would build one but be to tempting to shot someone.

As soon as I read the headline I knew it would be Joerg Sprave.

And dammit YouTube...Why are you not recommending his videos to me anymore?

The new algorithm sucks balls.

I'll watch a Game Grumps 3 video series, and after watching video 1, it will recommend video 3 and a bunch of other shiat, but not video 2.

Isn't that just a speargun?

It seems like it's a bad idea to make the trigger for that thing out of wood as that thing could injure someone if they're on the wrong end of it.

What's the feasibility of a javelin-launching potato cannon?

luddite v2.0: Am I the only one who read that as "javelina-launching"?

No, it's a cannon which fires slingshots which launch javelins.

Insult Comic Bishounen: What's the feasibility of a javelin-launching potato cannon?

Not great for a quick and dirty. You need fins on long, non-rifled projectiles to keep them straight over long distances, and fins don't allow for a good seal in the barrel. You'd have to get fancy with spring loaded retractable fins or something, and ain't nobody got time for that...

That said, I was able to put a broom handle through 3 sheets of 1/2" OSB with energy to spare. Definitely lethal.

/Wrapped the expansion chamber in steel wire and duct tape, fueled with engine starter fluid, and never faced the breech plug at anything important.
//Similar setup got a baseball to 400fps.
///Life was more fun out in the boonies...

Or, you could just oversize the barrel and use a sabot with a finned projectile.

At St Petersburg artillery museum they have both canon with square/ rectangle bores; and discus (frisbee) shaped bores!
