Didn't Vince Neil kill him?
Oh wait, that was a different drummer IN a Pantera.

Too bad.  Their sandwiches are pretty good.

'Cemetery Gates' is one of my favorite Pantera songs.

I saw mentions of this on FB from bands I follow.  No cause of death mentioned.. huh, he's Dimebag's brother?  More tragedy in that family.

When your peers start dying off, you don't necessarily feel sad, you think, "Well, I outlived another one."

2018-06-23 06:50:47 AM
Vinne and Dime are dead, Rex had cancer, Phil is a Nazi .

2018-06-23 06:55:25 AM
Not a fan (couldn't get into the whole "tough bro/sensitive bro" schtick, and the fact they lifted their sound almost completely from Exhorder), but they did fly the metal flag high at it's lowest point, and kept it out there in the public eye. RIP

He was a member of a metal band, not the current wave of mumbled autone "rap".

Welp, the best half of Pantera is dead now.

Vinnie was a great drummer, he was respected far beyond the metal scene.

2018-06-23 07:38:06 AM
I wonder if that guy in some band will come down south and pee on his grave too .

Judging from his posting history, I'm guessing that's exactly what he listens too lol

Vinnie is a legend, His feet were some of the best in the business.

Guess he took his disdain and feud with Phil to the grave. Too bad they never got to reconnect.

In all seriousness, I bet it was alcohol that finally did him in. Dimebag probably would have met the same fate had he not been murdered.....

It does suck that they never made up - as awful of a person as Phil is I know he tried to make amends more than once.

54 is way too young and he was one of the greatest drummers ever. I think my favorite Pantera song is Drag The Waters followed by Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills. I don't know that it matters at this point but I hope it was natural causes. RIP

54 is more middle age anymore. That's pretty young these days*. RIP Dime's brother.

I just want to say that I've always had a fascination with this car.  I want to get one and hang fuzzy dice from it from the rear view mirror.   I look like an Asian accountant, but I still would get so much young trim with a car like that, which I guess Missus SirEattonHogg would not be happy with.

Continue with the thread on the rock band.

Why?  Phil is an asshole through and through.  I've known people like him and have no desire to ever reconnect with them.

So I guess the Pantera reunion is back on?

2018-06-23 10:58:06 AM
Given what Phil said about Darrell, after Darrell was murdered, there was no chance in hell Vinnie was going to reconcile.

They're halfway there.

2018-06-23 11:05:39 AM
RIP ... that's too early ... if anyone had to go should have been Phil.

Anyways Pantera sucked. Enemies of metal.

2018-06-23 11:36:16 AM
Both Abbot brothers.  Jebus F'n Cripes.

This is seriously an awful thing.  Pantera was like top of my list back in the early 90's.  Right up there next to Morbid Angel.  Those two bands were all I listened to for quite a while there.

One of the best shows I ever saw was on Dime's birthday, at the Spectrum in Philly.  This was back in '94 (I think).  They were an AWESOME band to see live.  It was just non-stop!  It was especially amusing when they all smoked a big'ole bong while playing Planet Caravan.  You could do that in those days...

RIP Vinnie.  Thank you and your brother both for the memories and some of the best music EVER!!

//I has a sad now

So... His drumming has improved?

Nah, Def Leppard still has a better drumline.

54? That's 132 in rockstar years.

Huge fan of his, tho. O collect drumsticks fromy favorite drummers, it took me 9 years to get his. In total, I have 65 now. His was one of my favorites.

Also went to Dimes gravesite. Interesting place.

RIP man. Gonna jam your tunes this weekend.

Pantera was the first proper, ie not pub gig, I went to Brixton Academy, London, I must have been 16. Amazing live. I regularly put vulgar display on, fantastic album.

With how fat he was I'm surprised it took this long.

2018-06-23 01:51:22 PM
I got to see Pantera at Ozzfest 2000 in Cincinnati. It was amazing! I remember Godsmack (ugh!) opened up for them. Before they played their last song, voodoo if I remember right, their vocalist said this...
"I see a lot of you farkers out there sitting or laying down. Maybe you've had to much to drink. Maybe to much to smoke. But I promise every one of you farkers will be on your feet when the next band comes out to rip your faces off!!!
Best part of their set I thought.

Damn.

Not that I want Phil Anselmo to die or anything but that guy outlives two other members of Pantera?

I've seen a shiatload of concerts over the years yet despite living in Columbus I've somehow never seen anything at the Alrosa Villa.

2018-06-23 04:02:03 PM
Yeah, Phil's a dick. I still like some Pantera. Of the opinion the Far Beyond Driven was their peak. Was just watching the '3' tour video last night while bored and drunk oddly enough.
Never was a HellYeah fan. Still a shame imo.

RIP
