"What they call country music now, mass marketed as country music is obviously not country music."

And it never has been....

Elephant shiat and rabbit shiat are worlds apart, but it's still shiat.

Music tastes change. News at 11.

What is this stupid ass hate for music? Garry Brooks isn't down home southern music, but it's still fun to listen to. What the shiat is this idea?

Next up, Metallica isn't rock because Beatles. This argument sucks and anyone that appreciates music knows it.

Music is music to anyone that hears it.

I like Bayside and Lucky Boys Confusion. I also like Beethoven and Chopin. I like Eminem and Trick Daddy. Why the fark do people care? We like what we like. Music is music.

Maybe people don't like your  music Lee Ann. Deal with it.

And shiatty formulaic pop is still shiatty formulaic pop even if the lyrics mention trucks, whiskey, and girl you got what make me feel right, I tell you what.

While it's more bluegrass than coutnry, I will say I am utterly livid that so many John Prine songs are still topical.

Not that I don't like the songs, I do! But "Paradise" SHOULDN'T BE A TOPICAL SONG IN 2018, DAMNIT.

Lord it's the same old tune, fiddle and guitar
Where do we take it from here?
Rhinestone suits and new shiny cars
It's been the same way for years
We need a change

Sam Stone was alone
When he popped his last balloon,
Climbing walls while sitting in a chair.
Well, he played his last request,
While the room smelled just like death,
With an overdose hovering in the air.
But life had lost it's fun,
There was nothing to be done,
But trade his house that he bought on the GI bill,
For a flag-draped casket on a local hero's hill.

Country music is birdsong and the wind rustling through the grass. If you're listening to anything besides a relaxation album of natural sounds, it not only isn't country music, but more often than not it was created indoors. It's a complete fraud of labeling.

Prison is way too heavy for bro "country". Their worst run-ins with the law wouldn't get more serious than sittin' with my honey watchin' the moon got tunes on the truck radio and the sheriff asks us to move along.

Seriously, Chris Stapleton is easily the best artist recording in country music today.  Considering the accolades he's getting, I'd even go so far as to say he's approaching George Strait's level of talent.

That might be true in a world where Colter Wall, Jason Isbell, and Sturgill Simpson don't exist. Thank goodness we don't live in that reality.

Stapleton is good but he's just the most popular of a recent crop that's still playing, and even expanding, real country without resorting to shiatty twang pop. The music industry labels real country music "Americana" or "Folk" now.

When I first heard that, I thought it was Dolly Parton. Similar voice and arrangement to a lot of Dolly's 1980's stuff.

I'd disagree. Today's country music perfectly represents the people that love it. It's the Trump of popular music genres.
