You jest, but you're exactly right.

Trump will hear "the American people are horrified at what they are seeing in the news!"
And his solution will be "ban the free press!"
And his supporters will cheer even louder.

The government should know how bad this looks and how innocent children are actually suffering. That kind of scenario is unacceptable to most Americans as exemplified by former First Lady Laura Bush's withering criticism.

"Most" Americans. Not all. Most.

And not that innocent children are suffering. But that innocent children are suffering AND it looks bad.

Seriously. F*ck this guy. F*ck Trump. F*ck this administration, as a whole. You're cool. And f*ck Republicans.

Hitler did the same thing. Aktion T4 was the euthanizing of mentally handicapped people in Germany, and was widely opposed by Germans and the nazis had to put the brakes on it.

When they made the death camps, they did them in Poland, where the German population couldn't see it.

I mean, Sessions explained tonight that the way this policy differs from Nazis tactics is that Nazis wouldn't let Jews flee. Hopefully that resolves the issue and we can all agree there are no civil rights violations going on.

(Seriously, their best argument now is "we're trying to convince potential border crossers that they will be irreparably harmed if they seek to cross over as a deterrent: we promise we're not doing anything bad but you have to trust us because we still have to portray it as if we are scarring children and parents in the process.")

They really do not like looking bad.  Oh they have no problem with doing bad, as long as they can make the doing bad not look bad.

Republicans are against this because it might cost them in November.  Democrats are against this because they have basic human decency.  Seems like an easy compromise to be made here.

Bill's only saying this because he knows the polls, and he also knows everyone around Trump is facing indictment. A rat bailing ship basically. Hes just trying to distance himself from Trump now, so he can get another gig reppin' GOP in the future.

You'd think people would have gotten the clue when it came out that the ONE FARKING BOOK Trump actually read which interested him and he kept on his nightstand was a book of Hitler's speeches. But people didn't take that seriously because bluh bluh worried people are overreacting, over dramatic, Godwining, everyone you don't like isn't Hitler, it can never happen here, etc.

Now he probably will not manage to 'achieve' as much as Hitler did. But don't kid yourself about who this asshole admires and the places he gets his ideas from. Yeah people used Hitler as a non-serious benchmark of authoritarian assholeness since the end of that war, but don't let that mask the fact that the ideology he believed in is shared in modern times by some who secretly admire what he did. And not just by Cletus in the trailer park. Hitler is dead...no one else will ever be exactly like him. But the ideas Hitler had are not dead...because they didn't start with him and they won't end with him either.

Exactly, it's going to get worse before it gets better. As evil and despicable as he is, he's too stupid to be successful. Someone just as rotten as him but with more focus and charisma would be much more capable of enacting the agenda he's setting. This is not the last we will see of this policy direction. We have a very long, ugly fight ahead of us, and it doesn't just end with Trump's impeachment/resignation/indictment/timetraveller-assassination. Whoever picks up his mantle is going to be just as evil but ten times worse.

Jesus of Nazareth on a pogo stick.

I was planning to start bringing up "if your argument is that your concentration camps aren't as horrible as the Nazis', you have already lost" sarcastically. Because this is obviously a sarcastic parody and a joke argument because nobody anywhere would ever actually seriously say "b b but we're not as bad as the Nazis" as a defense.

Wow I hate this timeline.

Obviously, the shiatstained KKKeebler elf never actually read about what happened in Nazi Germany.

Especially since the original 'final solution' was to round up all Jews and throw them out of Germany to other nations.  Only once the rest of the world didn't take most of them in did the 'final solution' end up becoming a truly final one.
