Are we sure he isn't going to play the volleyball this time?

Will he be playing the role of the Aircraft Carrier?

"which follows fighter pilots dealing with a world in which drone technology is making their old style of flying obsolete."

So it's going to be a bunch of retired military pilots sitting around yelling at clouds? Please tell me they'll be retired, because these guys are way to old to still be on active duty flying jets.

He looks frail for his age, but he's not fat anymore.

I'm just glad he's still around to reprise. The role.

And it was throat cancer. Have you heard him speak recently? He's unintelligible. So, dubbed-in dialogue and/or captions?

I'd give real money if Val Kilmer croaked an explanation to Tom Cruise as to the purpose and usage of a chafing dish...

Put him in clothes bulkier than that t-shirt and he'll look fine.  Weathered in a way that adds character, even, just looking at his face

I thought he only got fat because of the medications he was taking.  Steroids can do that to you.

On another note, who the F wears a tee shirt with their own picture on it from 30 years ago?

WTF is wrong with people that they need a familiar name (and plot, and title) in every godam movie.

I've seen that before, what is that from?

Btw, Tarantino's argument is supported by the zero chemistry between McGillis and Cruise

That argument is always the first thing I think of when someone mentions Top Gun.

And while he put on some weight previously, he suffered more from a fat face more than anything else, like Nathan Fillion.

/and the way it grew in looked like it was intensified by bad plastic surgery

Don't do it: Ice, Charlie, Maverick, Bruckheimer,Ghost-of-Goose, Paramount, Viper, and everyone else that may be working on it.

TG became an iconic movie at a particular time in history. Trying to replicate its success and iconic status almost always ends badly. It's like your hometown legendary sports star coming back to the team years later as a coach/manager.

I hope its more than a cameo.

Tom Skerrit and Michael Ironside are still around too.

I think that in box office terms they succeeded.  Also, it led to my high school friends and I having this exchange during many car rides:

"I'm gonna drop the hammer"
"Oh no you're not!"

Kenny Loggins has already said that he talked to Cruise about it and they both want to do a fresh version for the film
