Donald Trump is either a traitor or a big, dumb dupe. It will be interesting to see if Trump's ego will let him try to defend himself with the latter option.

Very publicly no less, not some private, quiet deposition that'll never leave its courtroom.

Overheard at a special counsel staff meeting:

"We haven't quite crushed Jared's nuts entirely flat. What can we do to turn the vice handle a little more?"

Qatari officials gathered evidence of what they claim is illicit influence by the United Arab Emirates on Jared Kushner and other Trump associates, including details of secret meetings, but decided not to give the information to special counsel Robert Mueller for fear of harming relations with the Trump administration

Lovely.

Same as what happened with Ukraine.  It's almost like there's an ongoing effort to obstruct the investigation in to trump's misdealings.

Gee it would be a shame if Mueller read the news and found out that such evidence exists and looked for it. :)

What are the chances that he's known about this for months since we're just now hearing about it? Also, what are the chances he's found other ways to get that same information if it wouldn't be handed over?

Trump has made it clear that pay for play graft is perfectly fine as far as he is concerned. He doesn't consider it collusion because just like every other deal he has been party to he intended to take whatever graft was offered and give nothing but empty promises in return. His entire career is built upon empty promises so it stands to reason that in his mind "there was no collusion" is a true statement. He is too stupid and too arrogant to realize that the scams he ran as a private citizen are criminal acts when committed by an elected official.

They'll turn over whatever they have to ingratiate themselves with the new administration.  We can't subpoena or arrest foreign governments, and foreign governments without the leverage to fight back are acquiescing to the people actually in control of the hard/soft power mechanisms of the US government. They're being pragmatic.

Qatar is effectively an enclave within Saudi Arabia. They have to pay the Trump family protection money in exchange for the privilege of being able to use Saudi waters and air space.

It's impossible to punish big-name Republicans. You might indict a few Scooter Libby types, but never the big wigs. If the pawns who take the fall have any charisma or really do the job, they are set for life. Robert Bork was promised a SCOTUS seat and, damn it, they did try to give it to him years later. Oliver North never went away, he went on wingnut welfare. These guys never have to worry, the capos will get their backs. Hell, they still use the 'Hastert' rule and get upset whenever it's mentioned he was a child molester.

Trump is being steadily isolated. Meulller is focusing on family, friends, and now friends of family. Pretty soon everyone he knows and everyone they know will be part of the investigation and Trump will be all alone without a scapegoat in sight.
Also, before checking out that article, I'd never seen a picture of Jared smiling. I hope to never see it again.
