It's time for another edition of the Fark Weird News Quiz, where we test your knowledge of all the important, silly, and just plain weird stuff that happened last week. We're also fresh off of National Burger Day, so take the quiz and come back and tell us how you celebrated.

So what do you put on your burger? I went with smoked cheddar, lettuce tomato, mayo, mustard, pickle, and diced onions. Avocados are just too darn expensive around here.

Because of the grill grates, when you smash a burger, the tasty juices fall out on to the coals. This does 2 main things that are bad.
1. dries out your meat
2. causes flare ups

I still remember making candy canes in my high school chemistry class.  On a cloudy enough day, I can still taste low band FM radio.

Been using silicone grill mats for the last year & love them.  Picked a 3 pack up from Costco,  easier grill clean up,  juicier meat,  & still get the grill lines.

I want that potato salad.

BBQ sauce
1/2 pound lean patty, cooked medium.
Swiss or pepper jack cheese

That's all I do at home. Nice and simple.

I went to that place about once a week and they did a Mac n' Cheese de jour that was amazing as well.  All their sides were like that.  Here's some more stuff...

I don't make my own burgers, but I love the Winemaker, Firehouse, and Beast Mode burgers at Tipsy Cow.

My kid loves the Rockstar. That thing is ridiculous with its deep fried bacon and soft fried egg.

My perfect burger: Lightly toasted/buttered ciabatta bun, thin mesquite-grilled patty made with Mel Renfro's recipe, slice of cheddar, Plochman's mustard, thick-cut applewood bacon, and a dab of That Jerry Johnson's hot sauce.

Sometimes the flavor of the bun is more important than texture. You'd just need to adapt to the level of hardness. A tougher bun would require a patty that doesn't easily fall apart - probably with a fat ratio of 90/10 or leaner.

The whole wheat rolls I use are somewhere between brioche and ciabatta in toughness.

This is our go to at home, though we slip some bacon and some home made onion rings between the buns when we are feelin' fancy.

I knew it was Brahe instantly. I've always loved mentioning (when I cover Kepler's Laws in an intro physics class) that Brahe was brilliant but a famous drunk. Dude got into an argument with a student so he challenged him to a duel and then the student cut off Brahe's nose. IIRC he then wore a metal prosthetic afterwards. Also IIRC Brahe died from a severe kidney/bladder issue - apparently it was bad form to leave a formal event to pee, and Brahe was as usual drinking like a fish for many many hours..

Cheese is optional but the first burger comes off pure so the cook (me) can verify quality

Costco 1/3lb sirloin patties are pretty good.  I cut the frozen patty into quarters, grill em, cheese em then stuff them into Kings Hawaiian buns with some jalapeno slices.
