So, according to the article the blurb linked to, the doctor posted her medical information somewhere, including her home address? Seems like they're in much bigger trouble than a bad Yelp review...

I've already decided that the doctor is probably an insufferable douche just because he uses the fact that he went to Yale to claim that there's no way he could be a bad doctor.

I think you're allowed to sue if your gynecologist farks you over. I hope she does.

I bet the posting was it was brought into the court case.

I don't doubt a gynecological visit is unpleasant but I have a feeling she is really stilting the facts.

Depends, article just says they posted it but not where.  It could mean it was included as part of the suit as evidence against what she's claiming in the review.  If posted elsewhere, yeah... that's HIPAA territory there.

The Yelp reviews are getting more colorful:

The Dr. stopped what he was doing, looked her directly in the eyes and stated, "Be careful what you say to me. I have friends in Asian mafia that will take out your entire family, burn down your house and rape your dog."

/and that was from a 2 star rating.

If they actually did what she claims they did then they were probably doing it to a majority of their patients. Once the case with her is done that clinic is going to get an invasive exam.

Wealthy people and corporations use the courts as a weapon. If you cause trouble, they will bog you down for years until you either go bankrupt or give up.

Bonus that it scares others into silence because they don't want to be next.

I get the feeling this is one of those situations where she wants to speak to a lot of managers, and the doctor has uttered "don't you know who I am?" At least once in his life.

Assholes all the way down.

Yeah, don't surmise about stuff like that in a negative review.  Keep to the facts.  Let people come to their own judgement.

If they didn't do what she said they did then she's publicly accusing them of committing a crime and that's pretty much a textbook case of defamation of character.

In the Misinformation Age we're in, who the hell knows.

Re: patient reviews

I know an older doctor who had practiced for many years prior to the internet really being the beast that it is now. Good physician - cares for his patients, stays current, has more good outcomes than average. He got a bad review on some website recently and was super distraught about it. Totally bummed him out, and he thought he'd done right by the patient. I told him to go ahead and google a doctor he respects greatly, somebody he looks up to, a giant in the field. And then read a few reviews. Sure enough, a couple of them were absolutely scathing rants. Made him feel better. It's the nature of the beast, but doctors have been mostly insulated from it for a long time.

Not my generation though. We grew up with the internet and know that everyone hates everyone else.

Exactly, so if they didn't do what she is making false allegations against the office.

People should have recourse against people who post false things in a review.  I am not siding with either party here but I am familiar enough with yelp to know that people are more than willing to write completely false things in an effort to disparage companies.  Honestly, I don't think medical things should be on Yelp because the Doctors/Offices/Etc can't defend themselves because of Hippa.

I just did a little more digging on this. That Dr is farkled. He attached her medical records within the paperwork he sub'd the to court with the defamation lawsuit. A request to redact it was later issued. Even the court has to have a damned good reason to obtain your medical records. This type of lawsuit does not qualify. She needs an attorney.

nyseattitude: This Dr. is going to have much larger problems than a yelp review. I hope you enjoy your million dollar plus law suit Miss

"They tried to drag my start-up wine-and-spirits technology business into it ... They posted my entire medical record, including notes about my mental health, my bills, my insurance info, my driver's license, birth date and home address," she said.

Did I read that correctly, the doctor actually released her medical records to the public? Holy fark if he did that he's in a world of trouble!!
