The man's a terrible person, of course. But he did have one of the funniest lines ever delivered on News Radio during a Bill (Phil) dream sequence episode, where they were depicting Tom and Huck, paddlin' down the Mississippi River.

Bill thinks he's woken up from the terrible dream, only to see Matthew strolling by, dressed as Huck, and asking, "Are you ready for another homo-erotic ride on The Big Muddy, Bill?"

Someone should set up a trust to send Andy Dick a few cases of booze every anniversary.
Maybe he'll drink himself dead.

Andy Dick didn't force her to take the cocaine he offered. He didn't make her use it. He didn't make her shoot her husband. He didn't make her shoot herself. Nobody is to blame for Phil Hartman's death but his wife. I have little to no doubt she was in a psychosis, but Andy Dick didn't cause that. People should take personal responsibility for themselves.

Really? A one paragraph article on the murder of an iconic snl player who went on to do several other tv and movie projects and was then murdered by his wife, who was fueled up on cocaine given to her by Andy dick. Where is the justice?

But seriously, you don't offer drugs to a known addict Unless you're an addict yourself and just want someone to party with. Both actions were a scream for help. One is still alive and dealing with the consequences of their actions. It's only a matter of time before he od's or puts a bullet in his brain pan. Let's just hope no one else is involved with his demise .

I thought Dick's funniest moment was when Matthew grew an awful mustache, and Catherine's response was to backhand slap him across the face.

Andy Dick famously bragged about giving her the cocaine. When addiction is concerned multiple parties can be partially responsible. She was ultimately responsible, but Dick certainly helped and knew he was doing something bad.

Bartenders can be charged for serving overly drunk people, and letting them drive away.  Adults are charged for giving alcohol to minors.  Just loaning a car to friends who kill someone in a robbery can get you locked up for the rest of your life.  Giving someone something bad is a bad action.  It is not something he should brag about.

I still think it's a wonderful tribute that Zapp Brannigan's voice is Billy West imitating Phil Hartman's audition for the part.

And even years later, I'm reminded of Hartman often when I watch the show.

I frequently see in discussions of violent crime a conflation of blame and cause. Blame is fine for moralizing, cause is useful for prevention.

Does Andy Dick share some blame?  Sure.

Cause is much more proximate. If they didn't have a gun in the house, its unlikely she would have killed him.

So the answer is not Dick control. If you have an unstable family member, don't have guns in your home. Heck, if you just live in a place where police response is fast, you don't need one and are better off not having one.
