As much as I hate seeing Politics Tab in the Sports Tab, I would like to point out for the sake of pedantry that there is a significant portion of the so called truthers/red pill demographic who think that Alex Jones is a fraud and a con man.

It would be nice if there were a way a person could avoid watching NBA playoff basketball.

I was a fan.  Watched for years.  I'm a fan complaining about how shiatty the recent competitive balance is.

This is crap.  It's been SLIGHTLY closer this year than the last two, but still stupidly broken.  The absurdity of how this is not only ok, but actively encouraged in the NBA is painful.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a dick, but I still don't understand what you're going on about.  Competitive balance?  Has there been an era in NBA history where the majority of championships weren't won by a couple teams?  The Celtics/Lakers rivalry of the 80's is what made me a fan, and what really brought the NBA to the forefront.  It's not exactly new to have a few teams with a majority of the league talent.  If you think it's new you haven't been paying attention.

And it's not as if the Warriors are some long-time dynasty like the Lakers or Celtics.  Not long ago it was laughable that the forlorn Golden State franchise would ever get a whiff of a title.  And, um, Cleveland?  Oklahoma City almost got a freaking title and probably would've in a year or two if they hadn't traded Harden.  And sports leagues sure are designed to help mid-market teams like San Antonio.  And Dallas.  And Miami.  Yes, once teams get the combination of luck, organizational skill and learning to fight/pace themselves through the playoffs, they tend to hang on for a year or three while another team figures it out.  Boston, Philly, Houston, even Minnesota or New Orleans are one piece and/or some experience from being next.  This is how it works and it works better than when 80% of the teams were a bunch of cokeheads barely trying while LA and Boston horded titles.  Anyo ...


The Cavs nearly lost to the PACERS. The 1 seed in the East got swept.  The Sixers got to the 2nd round after nobody even had them making the playoffs this year.  The Celtics almost got bumped off in the 1st round by the Bucks.  The Pelicans as a 6 seed lost their 2nd best player and made it to the 2nd round.  Both Conference Finals are going 7 games. My only real disappointment this post season are the Igoudala and Paul injuries.  I'm with you man, if you can't find joy in this post-season you don't like Basketball.

ESPN and others calling this his greatest feat have short memories.

Lebron pushing the 2007-2008 Celtics to seven games and his game seven performance that series was far more impressive to me than him beating the 2017-2018 Celtics led by Al Horford and a bunch of kids with high ceilings.

Maybe you should drive: I just don't like bandwagon fans.  Here in Northern California, I don't think I knew a single Warriors fan 5 years ago.  You had a few straggling Kings fans from their heyday, but mostly nobody cared about the NBA.  Now, everyone acts like their lives depend on the Warriors.

The Celtics, Rockets, and Cavs?  Those teams have fan bases who have been with them through thick and thin.  Going into the semi-finals, I really only wanted to see the Warriors go down.

I've heard "Warrior fans" tell me several times how much they can't stand Lebron because he's so full of himself.  They have no idea that Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Wilt Chamberlain also thought a lot of themselves.  Because they should.  Because they were awesome.  But they have no frame of reference because they are new to watching basketball.  So they seem to think Lebron is the first basketball player to have a lot of confidence in himself.

I really hope the Warriors lose tomorrow.

My general rule is that I don't hate fans celebrating their team's success. I hate the f*cking douchebags who go on and on about how THEY won the RIGHT way.

Like, it's not enough to win, but you also have to say that all the other teams that won don't count because they did it a different way. FOH

Yeah, those refs were closing out hard on Boston's 3 point shots, really getting a hand in the shooter's face and let's not even get into that rim defense. I couldn't count how many rejections the boys in strips served up.

/Rozier went 2-14 and 0-10 on threes, many of those were open shots

I think LeBron James is a fantastic player, one of the best ever.  But seeing him in the NBA Finals for the past EIGHT years is getting just a little old.  Maybe something similar happened in the past, maybe it didn't.  How that affect the fact that it's boring NOW?

I've lived in the bay area all my life and I suspect you live further north. The Warriors have had a loyal following for decades, thanks mostly to Don Nelson. While they didn't win anything notable with Nellie at the helm, they were always entertaining to watch. His run and gun offense led to huge scoring games. Warriors would put up 120, the other team would put up 135. Occasionally, the Warriors would win. Are you new here?

Of course many have jumped on the bandwagon recently, but the Warriors have a long history of selling out the Colliseum. The core fans have been around forever and we've sat through a lot of losses to get to where we are now. We can relate to Cleveland fan. I've been following them since the Run TMC days. I hope they win tonight.

It'd be nice if one year, teams could be healthy when they played the Warriors.

/Iggy being out just makes things fair since GS already has an All-Star team, it's unfair that they also get to have the best sixth man.

As someone that doesn't watch the NBA that much, I actually watched most of that game last night (was rooting for the Celtics).  The Celtics took horrible shots all night, especially in the 2nd and 4th quarters (if I remember correctly).  They were doing well when they were going into the paint all night so what do they do?  Lob 3 pointers when there's plenty of time to work the ball around.

I'm constantly amazing that sportcasters are actually able to enunciate with Bron Bron's cock so deep in their throat.  Every single thing he does is the most amazing, bestest thing evar.  He is, with out a doubt, one of the best ever, but if he makes a shot it is amazing, no matter what that shot is.

The funniest thing I heard was "he never gives up.  He always gives a 100% and plays a full game."  Apparently they don't remember his last stint with the Cavs.

Oh fark off people.  Four years in a row with the EXACT same finals?  And it wasn't even much of a thought that we wouldn't end up here for at least two (arguably three) of the four.  The distance between the top team in each conference and #2 and #3 has been gigantic the last few years.

It's boring and broken.  The Bulls and Celtics dynasties weren't anywhere near this level.  Let alone perfectly symmetrical finals 4 years in a row.  Different teams made it, and the favorites didn't go every year.  Those were similar to Patriots-style dynasties in the NFL.  Favorites and often repeats, but not cookie cutter finals.

This is absurd.

You know what teams were great? The New York Patrick Ewing's, a one-man team that never won a title and never would have, even if the Bulls didn't exist.

The Reggie Miller Pacers, even though by every system that rates teams historically, the 2012-14 version that LeBron took out was better than the version Jordan beat.

Hell, even the 2007 Pistons LeBron beat were better than any Pistons team Jordan beat.

You can acknowledge the East is shiatty without taking Bron's dick out of your mouth.  You really can.  His teams have beaten Western Conference teams in the Finals.

But it's questionable if this year's Celtics, or the Atlanta Hawks, or the Toronto Raptors would make the playoffs in the West.  The only player who actually played on any of those teams who has a chance of making the Hall of Fame is Paul George.
