SoupGuru: Good Lord, his agent must be pretty good.

Kane was brought to the Sharks and they played like a different, better team. He really upped the game for them and was one of the reasons they made it to the playoffs -- it wasn't looking good before he showed.

/ They still won't grasp the Cup though ... again ... damn it.

Excellent news.

The contract extension means that the conditional 2nd round pick the Sharks sent the Sabres for Kane gets upgraded to a 1st.  The hockey pundits said they'd never get a first for Kane with his baggage, and now they're proven wrong.

The future is looking up. Dahlin coming in, fort time we'll have had a franchise defenseman since Phil Housley, if ever. Joining Eichel, Reinhart, O'Reilly, and Ristolainen to make a pretty good core, plus Mittlestadt who is looking like he was an absolute steal at #8.  And now we have two first-rounders next year.

It was a shiatty season to be a Sabres fan, but the spring has been very nice. Things are looking up.

It's a protected pick. If by some miracle the Sharks don't make the playoffs, it's a 2020 first rounder.
