Of Bolton, Kim said, "We do not hide our feelings of repugnance toward him."

Us too, pal.  Us too.

The book isn't called "The Art of the GOOD Deal."

Trump is going to get played so farking hard, and it's so easy to see it coming. This is kinda nauseating.

Yeah, but you can like, read and shiat. I assume, anyway. I'd give even odds that Trump is functionally illiterate. You have a pretty big leg up on him with just that. Hell, you probably don't even have much dementia.

North Korea is testing Trump to see how much he wants to do this deal. They have received all the information they wanted, and more.

2018-05-17 01:25:17 PM
So basically Kim is going to get Donny to beg to drink his load just to get some pathetic concession he can call a win?

Tr0mBoNe: They have received all the information they wanted, and more

Kim wanted to be on equal footing with the USA, and Trump scheduling the meeting did that nicely.  Now there is no longer a need for a meeting.  In fact, the Norks will gain the upper hand if they decide to walk away.

Art of the Deal, indeed.

When I'm trying to make a deal with someone, I always speak in the past-tense.  I never have to make concessions on the deal, I just continually speak as though the deal has already been made, and I've already gotten what I wanted.

I never actually agree to the deal, but eventually, the other party starts to believe the deal has been made, and will agree to just about anything thinking they have won.

Then just back out of the deal that was never made.  Telemarketers hate it.

I'm really hoping this fizzles out like the rest of Trump's deals. Trump believing whatever the last person he talked to said means he might walk out of that summit thinking we should bomb Seoul.

2018-05-17 01:32:43 PM
I hope Kim is eating a lot of asparagus leading up to this.

2018-05-17 01:33:03 PM
Kim got himself and his regime legitimized by D2S and his flunkies so they could more easily demand concessions from their more willing partner. It was "Listen, South Korea, now that the Orange Stain has mentioned us and reached out, we can either deal with you or we can deal with the US - oh, you'd like for us to deal with you? Yes, us too, thanks."

It was the most transparent move since that thing you did on prom night. And D2S and his band of ninnies missed it.

Omg the idea of foreign countries using TAotD against trump is delicious

2018-05-17 01:33:37 PM
What a complete and total stooge Trump is. Either he is going to give away the farm for effectively nothing just to say he got a deal and give NK a substantive victory, or this whole endeavor will fail, this opportunity will have been wasted, and our government will look totally incompetent while giving NK a symbolic victory.

Tr0mBoNe: North Korea is testing Trump to see how much he wants to do this deal. They have received all the information they wanted, and more.

Yeah, and now the dipshiat in chief is desperate to put himself in the running for a Nobel prize (he thinks) by making literally any deal with NK just so he can crow about his great success. I don't want a chance a Korean denuclearization to fail just to spite Trump, but it's hard to see this working out the way he seems to think it will.

What really worries me is that he does make some major concession, gets criticized for it on Fox News, then completely breaks the deal he made, and that further inflames tensions in the peninsula. And, after that nobody will think they can negotiate with the U.S. in good faith.

I'm pretty sure that nobody with a lick of sense thinks they can negotiate with the US in good faith now. Not while Trump is in office at the very least, and possibly not in the future either considering that a not insignificant portion of our electorate thinks its peachy keen to put somebody like Trump in charge in the first place.

I don't really think so. This is a poker player beating a table of football players at poker.

Kim actually has all of the totalitarian powers that Trump thinks he has; has a single clear goal (Military dominance - or at least mutually assured destruction - over South Korea & Japan) and is already under the gun.

Trump has put himself in a position where he has to negotiate on behalf of several actors, doesn't know his own goal let alone how to achieve South Korea or Japan's, and made it clearly how over-leveraged he was coming into the room.

Trump has to win not just his own bet but his allies' as well; Kim just has to not get killed. Kim's going to win this hand every time.

Iran deal already did that, which gives NK one more reason to walk away.

Well he has moved on since NK, now he is back to trying to start a trade war with China by saving ZTE. Truly a master of the deal saving a company he wants a trade war with, he has outsmarted me with his business wizardry. In the end China will probably give us NK as a gift for saving them, a master of 5D chess at work here kids.

I knew this was going to end badly, most of you knew this was going to end badly. The only people who seem surprised that this trainwreck is starting to fall apart are Trump and his supporters.

2018-05-17 01:43:51 PM
Posted this in another thread but it seems relevant to Trump's negotiating skills:

1) Trump: "You better renegotiate or else"
2) Mexico/Canada: "whatever"
3) Trump: "I'm putting steel and aluminum tariffs on you Canada.  You better renegotiate NAFTA."
4) Mexico/Canada "whatever"
5) Trump: "Ok, I won't put steel and aluminum tariffs on you if we renegotiate NAFTA."
6) Mexico/Canada "whatever"
7) Trump: "OK. I'm exempting you from tariffs but you better renegotiate NAFTA"
8) Mexico/Canada: "Are you still talking?"

Meanwhile
1) Trump kills TPP
2) Trump asks TPP countries if he can get back into it
3) TPP countries: "fark off"
4) Trump: "TPP sucks and I don't want to be a part of it"

Trump should send the hosts of Fox and Friends, along with Hannity, over to NK to fix all this for us. I bet that would work!
