They should take out another loan that their CEO could offer them, at interest rates higher than your average credit card. Yeah, that's the ticket. Awesome.

What can you make out of this?

Total revenues fell 4.3%. Same-store sales were slightly up.  Eh?

Easy. They closed a substantial number of small town stores in the last year.  Tired of selling Dockers and blouses to boring big-boned rural schoolteachers.

Not meeting projections?  They assumed a lot of their JCP-card-holding, 'shopped at Penneys my whole life' regulars would keep shopping at their 'nearby' (60 miles away in a city mall) locations or online.  They didn't.

Think how bad JCP would be doing if Sears wasn't closing all their stores.

They're still in business? Wow.

What about Dillards?

Should I be investing little Timmy's insulin money on JCP stock?

According to google, Dillards is still in business and doing fine ($74 per share stock price right now).

Oh gee I wonder why, could it be that Wal-Mart has prices that are much lower and are located everywhere.  Or could it be stores like Kohl's that are offering increased competition while making every value hunter collapse in spontaneous fits of orgasmic pleasure everytime they see the amount saved?  Maybe it's that the formerly brilliant strategy of locating yourself in a mall is no longer quite as brilliant?  Maybe it's due to online sites offering increasingly better selection, service, and speed?  Or could it be that people have started to equate them with an older generation and they are losing the young professional business?  Maybe it's the fact that Wal-Mart raised it's wages and they aren't getting quality workers anymore?

Or maybe it's every single one of these combined with not changing your business strategy to adjust.

We should really fix the pipes on this economy, it is taking forever for these businesses to circle the drain.

They should hire someone from Amazon or Google. Those are successful companies so clearly any hump riding their coattails should be able to turn things around for JCP.

If you're going to invest insulin money buy a couple houses and a speedboat first.  Next month you can buy stocks with it.

Nah, you're fine, you actually used a picture with a caption in difference to the prior poster who solely posted the line! Good show!

^This right here (along with your other points).

Kohl's is 10 minutes away...the mall is in an area with horrible traffic and 20 minutes away...guess where I am going to go? I like JCPenney, but there is no reason to go out of my way to get to one. They waited way too long to start opening locations in big box centers.

JCPenney also sucks at the online thing...they actually charge a fee to get items delivered to a store to pick up, and hardly ever offer a shipping discount.

/Their towels hold up better than the ones at Kohl's
