(Federal News Radio)   The IRS wants you to think of it as a startup. Which I guess means tax season is now the equivalent of an IPO and you can choose whether or not to be an investor? Cool   ( federalnewsradio.com) divider line

We will close the IRS and Federal Reserve. Nothing is going to save them. Nothing.

Sweet, I choose to opt out of funding this project.

Yeah, I don't see "improving customer experience" being a thing when the budget for the groups responsible for that keep getting cut/defunded every time the GOP wants to engage in "fiscal responsibility".

So their going to lie publicly, waste money on staff amenities and 'launch parties', and all dress in black turtlenecks or concert t-shirts?

Cool.  Now where can I find an instrument to short the government?

They're more like a startup:

They only have a couple of employees (left)
They're on a really small budget (after cuts)
But they'd love to go out to lunch and talk about the future (bring bribes)

When I retired from the IRS, they were still using reel to reel data tapes from the 1960s in one of their major systems.  It would literally take a full week for common transactions to update.  If there was a multi part transaction, you'd have to cycle the inputs to delay a week between transactions.

Agile has been the industry for 15 years now.... the IRS is just now catching up?  Good for them, but late to the party, as usual.

If they fail, how will the government pay people to watch porn all day?

I see, a "startup". That means vastly too few, and too few experienced employees, and those that are left are working insane hours.

Every time the GOP is in power, they talk about making the government smaller... and they cut staff for the IRS, and the SEC, etc, etc, and the number of auditors is fewer and fewer, and then everyone is shocked a couple years later, when there's a huge economic disaster, courtesy of the big banks and multinationals,  and asks how this could have been prevented.....

From what I've seen of agile I would have the thought the government created it.

I got a letter from the IRS that I was deficient in my tax payments by $5000. Kind of shocked me since I am W2 with proper withholdings year in year out. It turned out that $25k in RSU's didn't get get tracked properly, but $9k was withheld for taxes. That was a relief. I sent in a copy of my pay stub, and they quickly cleared it up.
