Gotta admit, I smiled when that happened. We got them back in the playoffs, where it counts.

Go Jays.

That $50 million contract they gave Odor really stinks.

649 OPS last year with 162 strikeouts and only 32 walks...OUCH. That's okay, his shiatty defense makes it all worthwhile.

HA HA

weren't they both knocked out in October?

So, if you're keep track of knockouts:

Bautista:  2
Odor:  1

Also, aren't both kinda struggling to stay in the league these days?

Looks like slight edge to Bautista.  OPS .645 to .530.

I remember that
Lee honestly didn't have much left anyway. It look like to me he tried to grab either chambliss or rivers with his left arm and got pulled to the ground when the fight started, and dislocated his shoulder, then really messed it up when he went back for more and got sucker punched.

Over here we have some tinted sunglasses with surprising aerodynamic properties......and over there an authentic Blue Jays batters helmet that doesn't provide nearly the head protection that it should......and finally on the ground you'll see a huge pile of lost dignity and spit/tears.

Good solid pop, but still failed to knock him down....

Best one I saw was during a Giants/Cardinals game back in 88 or 89. Will Clark is on first thanks to that sweet swing. Kevin Mitchell hits one on the ground to second, Clark goes in hard at second and takes out Ozzie Smith. Ozzie takes offense and starts swinging in Clark. Cards second basemen starts to help, so it's two on one as the benches are clearing. But Mitchell gets there first. He's rounding first when he sees them go after The Thrill and he just keeps sori ting toward second. A few steps away, Mitchell launched himself at the Wizard and the St.Louis 2b, he's practically horizontal as he reaches them and lands a awe inspiring flying right cross to the Cards second baseman and sends the guy sprawling. Best part was that the camera had stayed on the fight and suddenly here comes Mitchell flying in.

Not Mitchell, Candy Maldonado. Socked Ozzie right across the jaw with a flying forearm.

Travis_Bickle: Well, if a two year old punch is all Texas fans have to celebrate I say let them have it.

After failing to finish off the 2011 World Series, Rangers fans have seen their ownership choose a "wunderkind" general manager over Nolan Effing Ryan, watched as said "wunderkind" has made a lot of bad decisions and Nolan signed on to help the misplaced National League team in Houston that did finish the job, and then saw the whole house of cards collapse last year.

The Rangers were (twice!) one strike away from a championship, and since then, everything has been a long, slow decline back to a state where even making the playoffs is a pipe dream. So yeah, we're going to celebrate the small victories right now.

You know, I never really understood why Bautista went after the 2nd baseman and not, you know, the pitcher who actually plunked him.  Did it take him a few minutes to build up some courage?

IIRC, Ventura was told to charge the mound in that situation. He knew it was a mistake at the time, but was under managers orders.

I remember reading something about Ryan saying the last batter to charge him had been Dave Winfield and it had not gone well for Nolan. So he decided that he was going to be much more aggressive with the next person who charged him.

The rumour in the Toronto media was that he wanted 5 years/$150 million.

Instead he got one year/$19 million (plus a half million buyout) and whatever he's getting now (probably the minimum for someone with his experience).

Way more than I'll ever make but still a shocking difference.

He only got a triple A gig after the start of the season, Anthopolus (sp?), now in Atlanta, jumped on it. His numbers are getting better every game as he gets back up to Major League speed. He's not ever going to be the fielder he was, but if he can get his bat back up to speed, they can find an infield spot...

This is why text is now purple is on permanent ignore. He celebrates drunkass Billy Martin sending his guys out to destroy a pitchers arm. Yeah the Spaceman still pitched and pitched well, but his fastball was gone after billy's goons wrecked his arm.
