A similar thing happened to me about 20 years ago - a large wooden pallet flew off the back of a lorry into the front of my car while I was driving along the motorway. Luckily it was below the level of the windscreen when I hit it but it seriously farked up my car.

A free keg of beer is pretty useless without a tapper.

Ditto for a friend of mine.  A mounted tire crashed into the passenger side of his windshield.  It happened before we knew each other, but he showed me the pictures.  Fortunately, he was the only one in the car when it happened....a passenger could have been killed....and he's damn lucky that it didn't land on the driver's side.

...but was the keg of beer ok?
This is important.

"Sorry boss, can't come to work today."
"It better not be because you've been hitting the keg again!"
"Um..."

I had a spare tire fall off an SUV right in front of me on a surface street ~ 6 years ago.  I didn't lay on the brakes like I should have.  I would have definitely gotten rear-ended, but that would have been the problem of the person behind me.  I was in an SUV also, but the tire was wide enough it still did about $2500 in damage to the underside of my truck.  I was about 3 miles away from the mechanic I always used, so I just drove it there, slowly.  It was bad enough that he was amazed I made it.

I've bought dash cams for every single vehicle I've owned since then, and I would recommend everyone else do the same.  $150 for a good one and a memory card.  At least I would have had the plate # of the truck the tire came off of, but I'm not sure if I would have still been liable for my deductible since the tire hit the ground first.  Stupid insurance rules, etc.

I wish they had told us where the keg came from. The video shows it coming from the right, driver is on the left (wrong) side. It looks like there is a lot of force behind it, so I'm a bit confused.

FTA: It is believed that the keg was empty but it still caused quite significant damage to the car.

They seem surprised that an empty keg would do a lot of damage. If anything it would bounce higher and move faster (doing more damage).

/Force of impact is the mass times the square of the velocity.
//twice as heavy is 2X harder.
///twice as fast is 4X harder.
