Communities in the north east should sell them gondola cars full of snow for clean fill in the winter time.

FTA: "I don't know a whole lot about sinkholes, but you would think if they had fixed the one back in 2012 that would prevent future sinkholes here," Pinder said. "I'm hoping this time around they fix it so we don't have to worry about those sinkholes happening anymore."

That's not how Karst topography works. If you don't want to worry about sinkholes, move out of Florida. Ocala is approximately where I added the arrow:

Damn. I was hoping my co-worker had it right, and that they're going to open under Mar-a-Lago this weekend.

So... Trump left Mar-A-Lago again?

OK, the sinkhole may have drained your pond, but on the plus side you don't have to worry about alligators being in your pond anymore. Please, think of the children.

Pinder said. "I'm hoping this time around they fix it so we don't have to worry about those sinkholes happening anymore."

He also hopes California fixes its earthquakes and Oklahoma has put a stop to those pesky tornadoes.

If you don't want hurricanes don't live on the east coast if you don't want sinkholes don't live in Florida if you don't want mudslides don't live in the mountains and if you don't want volcanoes don't live on one.  I'll stick to tornado zones.  I have a basement.

When I was 11-ish (1962), I saw a Mad Magazine reference to a 'sinking house fund'.  My father explained that it was not literal.  Leave to Florida to prove him wrong decades afterward.

Also, they thought something was wrong when the water started exploding?

STOP BUILDING ON SAND, ASSHOLES!

Even better: STOP BUILDING ON TOP OF KNOWN KARST AREAS WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY DRAINING THE GROUND DRY.

This isn't because of the "extra weight" of the water from Irma; if that shiat were true then the freaking State of South Carolina should've seen their active earthquake fault in Charleston let go from the billions of tons of weight they got during that last flood a couple of years back.

No, this is because rain is naturally skewing to acid, and percolating acid rainwater draining through a Karst system enlarges gaps and caverns as it eats away at the limestone; the only thing holding it up at that point is water pressure... which every gods damned golf course, cattle "ranch", motherfarking Nestlé, and new housing developments like this shiat show are pumping back out of the ground in record amounts.

Springs are drying up or dying as the trickle of water coming out of the ground is concentrating the nitrates from septic & fertilizer runoff, and the decreased water in the aquifer is causing the exact same kind of implosions as out here in West Texass where the Oliglala is being pumped dry for farming & fracking water, resulting in the giant new sinkhole outside of Wink.

This is a self-created problem by people just like the hot, whiny biatch in the video. You wanted to live in the 'happening, new developed area', you pay the price.

Watch: their "solution" will be to do what Mal*Wart did in Silver Springs and pump the ground full of concrete. fark developers, you assholes ruined Florida!

My sister lives between Ocala and Gainesville. It's amazing how they can have a torrential downpour of water, the entire property will flood, and in about two and a half minutes all the water is gone underground  somewhere.

Me -- "Where does all that water go?"

My sister -- "Hell if I know, but we're not saying one goddamned word to the insurance company, so keep it under your hat."

Even worse is that Fox News people are probably going to blame 'regulations' for the issue.  (in reality it is unregulated wild-cat developers likely the cause).  Sigh.
