Kaepernick's about to get paid.

Aaaaaaand, there it is.

Get 'em, Kaep ...

Once the Ravens signed Robert Griffin, the charade was pretty much over.

Other QBs signed include:
Brandon Wheedon (age 34)
Joe Webb (age 31)  (do any non-Viking fans even remember who the hell Joe Webb is?)
Chad Henne (age 33)
Geno Smith (lolz)

It wasn't supposed to be recorded.  Someone was a jerk, and I thank them for it.

My respect for Jeff Lurie has grown quite a bit recently, this incident being a major factor.  Bob Kraft seems to understand that the leopards might be hungry for his face, that buffoon.  And Bob McNair is a huge douchebag as always.  The Texans have a lot of good things going for them but their owner is just a few steps away from being Donald Sterling.

Rich people do not think like most people.

NFL owners are all rich people.

NFL owners dont think like most people.

I really hope this screws the NFL.  Im all for protesting and such behavior, but Im really getting tired of the corporate nature of sports, and how things have gone so far as to water down all the sports coverage and provide too many games with too many commercials.  Its all just greed above a certain level.

Someone with greater skills and know-how than I needs to photoshop the NFL logo onto this guy's back, and the lawsuits shooting out of the cannon.

If I was Colin Kaepernick I'd sue the hell out of them then he could buy his own team or all of them and give them the big hi-ho hardy finger.

Another reason why I only watch collegiate football and maybe the superbowl sometimes. We really need to change our country, it is just so unbelievably f$cked up.

I'll admit that I was wrong on this one. I was of the mind that you could get away with basically anything if you could still play (as long as the video of your assault never became public).

I hope that Colin takes them to the cleaners.

I've heard of that Mattress King who helped out a lot during Harvey. Think he'd buy the Texans?

This isn't the thread for this. But bringing in college football, the last great bastion of slavery in America probably isn't the best example you could make.

What happened to Kaepernick is unjust. What happened to the NFL is also unjust. They will rightly be punished for blackballing Kap, and probably Reid as well. But they are victims as well to a president willing to harm a huge business and American pastime as a distraction from his own polling and investigation problems. Trump is the crux, not the happenstance.

"If he was on a roster right now, all this negativeness and divisiveness could be turned into a positive," said Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Chris Long at the meeting, adding that he wouldn't "lecture" teams on which quarterback to sign. "We all agree in this room as players that he should be on a roster."

He already filed suit against the NFL for collusion.  The recording pretty much put the nail in the coffin; like I said, man's about to get paid.

Another reason why I only watch collegiate football and maybe the superbowl sometimes. We really need to change our country, it is just so unbelievably f$cked up.

I watch frontrunner football (aka CFB) for draft purposes only.  "Pony Exce$$" showed me a long time ago that boosters will do anything and break every rule in the book for bragging rights.  They simply have no farks to give about regulations when it comes to getting one over a rival school.

It always amazed me when people tried to say Kaep sucked. All you had to do was look at the numbers to realize that no, his TEAM sucked. Kaep was a middle-tier QB who had taken his team to the Super Bowl not too long ago. He's gonna get on a team somewhere. He can help somebody win.

There were bidding wars for Case Keenum and Kirk Cousins despite neither of them having anywhere near the success that Kaep had.  And hell, Nick farking Foles won a Super Bowl, it's not as if you need a Tom Brady.

There's simply no other reason for Kaepernick to not be on a team other than the owners wanting to make a political statement more than they want to win.

I was trying to explain this a friend who doesn't watch football. I went with there are 32 NFL teams with, and I admit this varies, 3 qbs each. That's 96 roster slots for qbs.

Looking around the league he is surely somewhere between 28-64. A borderline starter but definitely better than the vast majority of backups.

/looking at you Brock Osweiller

Let's not be too hyperbolic in support of Kaepernick here. Remember that the "success" that he had was on a team with a top-three defense and running game already in place, which was prospering under his predecessor. His individual passing stats were never great. Certainly good enough to still have a job in the NFL today, don't get me wrong, but pretending he was carrying that team isn't necessary for him to still be aggrieved here.

I'm not pretending that at all.  I still think that if Harbaugh had stuck with Alex Smith the 49ers would have won the Super Bowl.

But he's certainly good enough to earn starting quarterback money, and given how these owners give out contracts to the Philip Riverses and Statt Padfords makes it ridiculous for them to say that Kaep was asking too much and that's why they didn't sign him.

True; however, it says a lot when the Giants went with Geno Smith instead of signing Kaepernick.
