Queen Of The Mississippi Delta Black Gospel - Lula Collins - Almighty God.wmv

Lula Collins, had she lived longer, would have rivaled all the "gospel greats" of today. She was often referred to as "The Delta Gospel Queen", because she traveled and performed in Delta churches in the 1970's thru the mid-80', when she died. The "Delta" also includes Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee. Unfortunately, most of her live performances were not recorded, and there are few other recordings located on her. The few we have are gems. The story has been told that she performed so well at a Shirley Ceasar concert, for which she opened, that Ms. Ceasar, shocked at Ms. Collins stirring performance, told the MC, if he didn't sit Lula down, she was leaving. Listen to her sing, and you will understand why the great Ms. Ceasar felt threatened.
