Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Johnny Carson - The Rat Pack Performing Live In 65
On June 20, 1965, Energized By The Count Basie Band, And The Audience, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Johnny Carson Performing And Functioning As Emcee, Wowed The Audience At The Old "Kiel Opera House" In St. Louis MO. Johnny Carson Substituted For Joey Bishop, Who Was Incapacitated At The Time With Spinal Problems. It Is Also Noteworthy That Special Guests At The Performance Included Mrs. Barbara Sinatra, Tina Sinatra, Mrs. Jeannie Martin, Mrs. Elvira Davis (Sammy Davis Jr.s' Mother), and Angie Dickinson. A Closed-Circuit Feed Was Transmitted Live To Movie Theatres Across The Country As A Fundraiser For "Dismas House", The First Fully Functional Halfway House And Named After Father Dismas Clark. In Keeping With Murphy's Law And Other Natural Humane Fallacies, This Historic Kinescope Vanished From All Humane Sight And Memory. Thirty years After The Event CBS Began Producing A Documentary On Frank Sinatra At The Former Kiel Opera House, Now Operating As The Peabody Opera House. When It Was Noticed That There Were Mysterious Camera Installations With Strategic Onstage Focal Points. Paul Brownstein Executive Producer for CBS Took It Upon Himself And Began An Investigation And Found The Kinescope Of This Lost Show In A Dismas House Secretarial Closet. It Was Subsequently Donated To "The Museum of Television & Radio" By Dismas House, To Avoid A Repeat Of History. Fast Forwarding History The CBS Production Was Rebroadcast On Nick at Night (in 1998) as part of "The Museum of Television & Radio" Signature Series. The Museum of Television & Radio Became The Museum of Broadcasting, Which Then Became The Paley Center For Media, An American Cultural Institution And Public Repository For Historic Performances. The Citizens Of St. Louis Took Control Of The Kiel And Turned It Into The Peabody Opera House A Civic Performing Arts Center.
