Mass of Daddy Long Legs in a Tree
This cluster of daddy long legs (Opiliones) was found in a tree near a stream in Nogales Arizona. Answers to things people ask the most here: 1) The thing I use to make them fall is a stick I found on the ground nearby; 2) I think they behave like that for warmth (it was cold for Arizona) or protection (from creatures who don't have flamethrowers); 3) While I did disturb their gathering, they reformed elsewhere on the ground near by a short time later, so no harm done (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9prbpDK6A4&list=TLUQWhI5qYbxUMeWdt6izdKNlhPlzOJb6k).
Mad love for Pewds!
Thank to "Alex Cap Music" for composing some music to go with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhV1IrtZ5ww.
Finally, I found a comment that I really liked, but was hidden and I couldn't unhide. It may be fake, but here it is (I hope cats can't have arachnophobia): I'm a veterinarian, and every so often we need to euthanize a cat and the owner just can't bear to be present for the procedure. After we give the sedative, I always take the cat to my desk and we watch this video as they fall asleep. This video has comforted many pets in their last moments. Thank you for posting it.
