/Actually I'm not going this year and I'm very sad about it, I love SDCC.

There is a big convention going on in Calgary a couple of hours to the north of me. Wil is there. Last year they somehow managed to reuinite the whole cast of STTNG for the first time. They totally screwed the pooch on crowd control and a lot of people who had tickets to get in ended up corralled in some parts of the convention centre. Lots of disgruntled nerds there were that day.

I just wanted to point out that I'm glad Subby's a woman because there does need to be a female presence willing to dress in next to nothing among a bunch of horny nerds. Not for the reasons you'd expect, but I'm really tired of this fake geek girl crap and it's better to shove all of the boobies in their faces to prove them stupid. And some characters ARE empowering. I've seen men that shouldn't be wearing Superman costumes, why shouldn't women get the same deal?

Comic con? You mean HEEEEEY HOLLYWOOD BIG BLOCKBUSTER CON LOOK AT ALL OF OUR CELEBS AND MOVIE ADVERTISING TV SHOWS TOO oh and some comics stuff shoved off in a corner there.

Been to Comic Con more than twice, done the whole sit through three panels of crap just to have a decent seat for the one panel you wanna go to, only for them to "announce" crap that was old news a month and a half prior.

Really now Im more interested in catching that Sand Castle competition in Imperial Beach.

that's awesome. I see the normal crew of wish-I-was-alpha males being macho at their keyboard, and the women who call them asshats. Wish I could go to the con, but SD is a little far to hitch. Leeloo should be spectacular, even though you'll have multiples trying to pull it off and epic FAILING.

Jeez. Isn't it still a little too early to be hyping Comic-Cannes? The REAL Comic Con died back in 2001.

Now, it's just another retarded glamor show where they have panels for mundane shows like Glee and Hawaii 5-0. They only let the fanboys in for three days just to help pay the bills.

Oh, and enjoy getting the living sh*t gouged out of you by the hotels because they can (yes, even the bum Hostel across the trolley tracks gets all rippy-offy during that time).

Not going, but, does anyone know Jessica Nigri?  Turns out she works at a store I regularly go to.  We got to talking yesterday about nerddom in its various forms, and she showed me some of her cosplay pictures.  she said, "a fwe have been posted online here and there", which is vast understatement.  anyways.  had no idea this gal I've chatted with for several years was enormously famous in a niche market (contradiction in terms, i know).

I was a member of the SDCC back in the 80s, when it was an actual Comic Book convention.  I went many times, it was in one building.

Now?  Not a farkin' chance....it's way too outta control.  They should change the name from Comic Con to something more accurate, such as Movie Con or Entertainment Con, since it doesn't seem to have a lot to do with comics now.

/some great looking gals in skimpy costumes though!
//but I can see them all on the web, no need to fight my way through that mess

Every cosplay thread is chock full of young men PRAYING a cosplaying girl is assaulted, just so they can all group hug and have a bro-mance euphoric high, chanting "YOU DESERVED IT!  ATTENTION WHORE~!!!!!"

Resentment of pretty girls, coupled with the basic need for male macho bonding is a dangerous (and sad) mix.  The previous generation of men had sports for that release.  This generation of IT-savy, "sensitive", allergic to sports, socially awkward young men can only achieve the male bonding rush by joining in on internet forum threads, hoping they have a target.

I'm thinking about it. Most likely not, but, I do have Richard Alfs'  Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in my custody, to pass on to another. Most likely that will happen at the Leo party, as it needs to be kept in the same group of friends.

I hope to go, but I didn't get tickets. I tried with 4 people the day they were released and all of us got pages that couldn't load. Lame. I'm in the second chance lottery. If I do get in, I hope to be Hawkeye, not to be confused with his twin brother, Hot Guy.

No one plans a Fark party in Lancaster while calling it a "Los Angeles Fark party" then says "LA is a bloody county and a metropolitan area, get over it." and do you know why that is? Because if you live in the county you don't say I live in San Diego, you say I live in Carlsbad, and also because it's the major hub in that county, where all the rail, light rail, buses, cabs, and trolleys go. :P

I've been going to SDCC every year since 1989, when they were still in the old convention center. This will be my 25th consecutive run, and my 20th as a professional (graphic designer). I've also saved all my badges and have swag bags back to 1990. The swag really was better back in the day.
It will probably also be my last, as I've lived here since 1988 and may be moving across country by the end of the year. I'll miss the cosplay gitrlies and the "free hugs", but It's time to move on.

As for all the rage going on, I really don't understand. I like looking at pretty girls. I am an ok-looking dude with an active social life who still plays video games and does the Army thing. I wonder if all the guys getting pissy about other guys wanting to see scantily-clad women weren't hugged by their mother.

Not all Military personnel are animals, I get that you think that and I get that Fark will make you full of skepticism, but honestly our Fark parties are quite small.

Also I put my name on these events and I want the ladies to feel comfortable at our events, and for the most part our So Cal Fark parties have been successful, I still feel it necessary to point out that I go out of my way to make the ladies feel comfortable in whatever attire they feel comfortable in that they won't get treated like a piece of meat whether it be a moomoo or a leeloo costume, I have done my share of dressing in revealing tops and GW has always made sure I was taken care of.

I was really hoping to go this year, even registered and everything to get passes when they went on sale, but it sort of got lost in translation because I was preparing for Denver Comic Con. I cosplayed as well and had to make almost everything because my character is not well known enough that I could find a costume to buy. There were a couple options in upwards of $175+, but to be honest making it was much more fun and it was really awesome when people complemented it because well, I had made it!

Have fun and I look forward to looking through tons of photos when the time comes!

And they would be crazy to say "no".  If I had the tickets I would gladly hand them over, but sadly that is not the case. I will ask around my Steam groups and see if anyone has extras. On that note, feel free to look me up on steam sometime. I go by "_ShadeStalker" most of the time. I play a broad spectrum of titles and while I lean toward shooters, I enjoy RPG's or any game that tells a good story.

Have you tried the Alan Wake titles?

Um... you realize the point was to sell comics in 1994 too, right?

Is this another one of those things like how all conservative talk show hosts tell you the golden age of America was the decade when they were eight years old, even though everything they like about it also describes every other decade and everything they hate about other decades also occurred in their decade of choice?  a.k.a. the "I remember G.I. I haven't done a convention in a long time.  What I remember was way too many fat women in very skimpy outfits running around thinking they were sexy.  There was always one hot girl in a skimpy outfit that built up an entourage of desperate nerds by the end of the weekend.

From the looks of things, there are a lot more hot women going to conventions these days.

TV's Vinnie: Haven't been to Comic-Con since 2001, and with every passing year I'm even more glad that I'm missing it. The real Comic-Con died back in 1994, as far as I'm concerned. It's all about studios hyping their stupid sh*t shows now and the fans are just a barely-tolerated afterthought.

The convention you want still exists.  It's called "Wondercon."  Same group of organizers too.  Or support any of the smaller comic book conventions at the local Elk Lodge.

No one "ruined" Comic-con.  The goal even back when it was still the Golden State Comic-con was always to have Hollywood involved.  The entire point is to have an all-inclusive entertainment convention where for a short time at least comics can take the same stage with television and movies (and now games).  It may not seem like a big deal now (and no small part of that accomplishment goes to SDCC), but at one time it was unthinkable for big stars and studios to associate themselves with the lowly comic book industry.

Comic Con isn't what they say it used to be, a lot of my geekier friends wont go cuz it's too "main stream"

The line, they say to get into any panel... You gotta get there at 6am to see any panel. So no, my geeky friends don't go anymore :-/

Wait, wait. Which chick are we supposed to be paying more attention to? Skyday or Vivisection?

True "nerd" females are so very rare. A geek chick wouldn't dress as slutty Hermione or bandaged Leeloo or slave Leia. Way too overdone. Way too boring. Way too mainstream. Way too easy. Let's see, for once in our lives, a chick dress as the Baron Harkonnen or Jabba or Ben Grimm or Eowyn in full armor or Robocop or Thrall or a Xenomorph or flight-suit Ripley or Ripley in a power loader built by said chick. Let's see a female not rely on her tits for nerds' attention, but on her knowledge of all things games/sci-fi/comics/fantasy/etc. That'd be effing sexy as eff: To be out-nerded by a chick who is a true fan of something that her boyfriend didn't tell her to like; to have a quality costume so amazing, it'd not be the amount of skin showing that draws attention to it, but the very intricacies in design that only a real fan could passionately create.

Screw it. Never mind. Those girls don't exist. Onward with the boring attention whore-off between two socialites who can't come up with anything more creative than what has been done a billion times.

I took two weeks off for this, but I was only able to acquire Thursday and Sunday tickets.  It seems like there is enough off-site crap going on that there might still be something to do and make it worth to go downtown on the other days.  What am I going to do for the rest of those 2 weeks?  There's only so many times I can go see Pacific Rim...
Also, I'll be the fat, pale white guy, might be dressed as this guy: http://www.tchikitahman.com/

I'll be taking my 13YO daughter to Comic-con this year, which will be the first time for both of us.  When she first asked, I had no idea what Comic-con was, and figured "how many people are going to want to go to a comics convention", and booked a hotel and plane tickets 9 months before the event to save money, only to be shut out of the 1st round of ticket sales.  With some luck and hard work I *just* got two tickets, so the trip is on!

She wants to go as a Homestuck troll but can't decide which one.  The only character I'm suited to cosplay is this guy, which is only because every middle-aged, bald-headed, goatee'd guy with metal rimmed glasses looks the same to most people.

Wow, there seems to be a lot of resentment here. I've never been able to go to the SDCC as it is in another country on the other side of North America, but it is something I would love to do someday.

Until then, there's always Fan Expo here in Toronto for me.

What drives me nuts is reading all the anti-cosplayer posts. If someone cares enough about somethig to dress up as it, I say more power to them. I've always said If I could find the time to build a Proton pack, I would Cosplay a Ghostbuster in a heartbeat!

To those going to SDCC have a blast!

And if anyone is going to the Toronto Fan Expo in August, well let me know!

Well if the pictures you post (constantly) are any indication you have moved to a digital form of attention whoring where you must prove you regularly eat those cupcakes and like to wear all of the make up at once. Every time I think I want to go to a Fark party in San Diego I come to one of these threads where 30% or more of the posts are you and I imagine how much it would suck to spend five minutes in a room listening to you prattle on let alone maintain my sanity long enough to finish a beer. Should I spell out to you what PHP is or is that so....Ruby on Rails to you?

What I want to know is why should I migrate to PHP?
Or Ruby on Rails?
Or Grails?
Or Drupal?
Or Symfony?

/Yes, I know two are languages, two are frameworks and one is a CMS.
//Yes, I'm stuck using .NET.
///VB.NET even.
////Stop laughing.
//I do miss San Diego.

Your language or framework choices should be based on the needs of the project, not necessarily on your specfic proficiency or inclination. Java might well be a perfectly good hammer, but not every project is a nail. The same can most certainly be said of VB.NET. Out of the things you listed above I've used every single one at one time or another. I really hate RoR, (mostly the Ruby part), but I actually liked Grails quite a bit. I like PHP a lot, mostly just the benefits of scripted over compiled and type agnosticism, but I didn't have much use for Symfony. Drupal, on the other hand, I've used in close to a dozen different projects ranging from simple websites (Home, Contact Us, About), to content rich and complex multi-context sites, but it has it's limits as well (at least if you want to stay within Drupal standards).

Curious if you're stuck using VB.NET because that happens to be the language of the current project or if it's just what you're most familiar with.

Golly jeezy jeepers, why I done never heard of that thar PHP!! Why, PHP is such a mysterious and obscure and  not at all widely-used language which only the geekiest of geeks could possibly know!! Truly, I bow before your nerd powers of pure nerdery, Mighty Hog of All Attention! Yes, your grace, PHP is the all-encompassing unit by which all geeks shall be measured from here on out, and because of this language that is barely the next step up from HTML, your incredibly creative mental nerd juices are flowing out of your (seemingly large) ass, allowing you to "cos-play" as THE SAME GODDAMNED THING AS EVERY OTHER CHICK EVER! Up in MN at Convergence I've met women with movie-accurate storm trooper suits. Couldn't tell they were women until they spoke. I've seen some women with really technical and mechanically elaborate costumes as well. Again, frequently couldn't tell thy were women until they spoke.

Yeah, they're my designs/art. I don't specialize in costumes, although I've sketched up quite a few designs I plan to work on one day when I've got the time. I've never been to the really big conventions, but there are plenty of women who genuinely geek out on computer games, comics, and sci-fi at the smaller conventions.  They don't necessarily make elaborate  costumes, but they show up at panels, workshops, book readings and themed parties eager to talk to their fellow fans.

Cosplay fandom is actually a kind of weird area to me.  AWing aside, I get the impression many cosplay nerds geek out on the art of making awesome costumes more than the characters they are portraying.  Still geeks, but maybe not the ones you are looking for.

If they were "just for the costuming", they'd be doing something else.  Cosplaying as fantasy/scifi/anime is definitely reflection of attention paid to those things.

Of course, they might not know EVERY LITTLE DETAIL of any particular property they're cosplaying, but who cares.

Party threads (unlike normal threads) are automatically bumped and re-greened periodically, and with increasing frequency as the party approaches. Also, if there is a change to the info (in this case, the date corrected, and the location added), the thread will be re-greened.

<threadjack>

Hello, and welcome to my last words on Fark.

This thread made me realize I don't belong here anymore.  Well, not just this thread, this was the last little push to an exit I've been trying to avoid.  I'm stubborn, and I've been shoving all the good times I've had here in 10+ years (lurked for a while before signing up) against the undeniable deterioration I've noticed.

Let me clarify.  The links and quality of the headlines are fine by me, but the threads mostly seem to somehow or other degenerate into some combo of the following: troll/troll-feeder/aw/anti-aw/white knight/random shiat-stirrer.  It's almost like some folks feel that it's a requisite that a thread turn into a shiatstorm.   I've contributed to this, and I don't want to anymore, though I won't hold back here seeing as to how it's my last time.

Maybe it sounds like my favorite band got signed to a major and I don't like them anymore, maybe I sound like an old-timer that has not adjusted to inevitable change.  You're right, there is some of that, but I am a studio rat that depends on knowing the musical latest in order to keep getting called to sessions and gigs, and at 48 I know I've turned the corner but still feel good.

To VivianVivisect:
If I were still working on my thesis, I would have thrown out all the research I did trying to decipher what made Danny Gatton tick, and retitled it "Obese women in their 20s that suddenly find their spine and become SASSY: from outcast to brosephine".  As to your comment that "I'm just a liter", well, that is true but it would be truly disingenuous of you to think I haven't been a TFer at some point.  And it wasn't "gifted", like yours.  I enjoyed it, it was fun, especially to see the then hotly-contested PS challenges come up on the queue. Right around the "you'll get over it" fiasco, plus random other changes that made the site more of a commercial success, I decided to take that $5 and give it to a more needy charity.  Maybe before your next post, you'll give a minute's thought to how you're coming across.  Anyway, moving on...

I will fondly remember many, many highlights, some listed here, some not: http://www.shortlist.com/cool-stuff/the-12-most-epic-fark-threads-eve r
I will miss less so the excommunication of Foobies, the ever-tightening noose on what was "OK" to post, the threads where pics couldn't be posted at all, the banning of someone just for what they were linking to.  But it became a business, what are you going to do?  New rules.

I think at various points, most of us that had gone through these growing pains had enough.  I sure don't see most of the usual suspects from years ago.  In the meantime, a new audience has joined that came along as Fark is right now, and for them it's fine.  So, enjoy.

So I join the ranks of those that are no longer here.  I've changed my homepage (to http://www.boxer-rescue-la.com/), and I can't remember the last time I did that.

Thank you, Drew, it's been a great ride and I wish you continued success.  Be seeing you, everyone.

What am I going to do with all this extra time?  I think I'll go outside and play.

And now back to your regularly scheduled shiatstorm.

I'll never understand why people prefer to complain about the quality of a thread rather than do whatever they think is necessary to improve it.

People who post things like "I came for X, leaving disappointed" and so forth are just boring and lazy.  If you came for X and X isn't here, post it your own damned self.  The site is best when it's mutually entertaining and everyone participates.  If you just sit there and wait for everyone else to entertain you but you don't do anything to entertain others, then you might as well be watching TV.

That style of wig is known as a "queue."

The word you meant to use is "cue," as in "a stage cue" that tells the actor when to go on stage, (or "cue a record" which, in the old days of radio, when actual DJs played actual records, meant "prepare a specific record to be played next."

"Queue" is often mistakenly used in place of "cue," probably because in British English, it refers to a line of people.  That use is etymologically derived from the wig style (with a long tail or braid of hair at back), as the word is ultimately derived from Latin "cauda," meaning "tail."

"Cue," in the sense that you meant, originally derives from the stage direction "quando,"meaning "when" in Latin, which was abbreviated Q in scripts, beginning in the 16th century.  Shakespeare uses both "Q" and "cue" to indicate the time an actor should enter the scene.

(It has nothing to do with your party, which I'm sure will be great fun.  It was just a throw away post, since I'm kind of an etymology nerd.)

I gave you room to state your peace. I treated you with respect, allowing you to create your argument. You are attacking my character not the subject matter. That my friend is called an Ad hominem.

An ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or short for argumentum ad hominem, is an argument made personally against an opponent instead of against their argument.Ad hominem reasoning is normally described as an informal fallacy, more precisely an irrelevance.

Your argument is irrelevant and it was always a personal attack. You just proved it to me. You have something against pretty girls that have good self esteem.

My roomie likes to costume for the cons. She did Han Solo one year for a star wars themed group (said it could be Hanna Solo if people needed to wrap their heads around it). She is working on her Elijah Snow for this fall. She's not fond of showing skin, but she sits on panels and holds her own with heavy-hitting sci-fi authors, she knows how many gun turrets there are on which class Star Destroyer, and she once gave me a lecture on what DNA had gone into Serpantor. AFAIK her last costuming project was the dress on the cover of Patricia McKillip's Ombria in Shadow.

Point is, they're out there. She's not the only one, just the only one I know well enough to give the details. EIP if you want an actual introduction.

Hope that helps...

This sort of stuff fascinates me in an anthropological sense.

I mean it is easy to sit at home at a computer and type "look at those dorks" when no one can see you.

I wonder what it would be like showing up to this sort of thing just dressed like a "norm."

Reminds me of the time I was at a nude beach and a woman passed out.  Don't know if she was drunk pilled up or whatever but it was very interesting a huge crowd of rubberneckers surrounded her while the EMTs looked really embarrassed.

I have no idea what my point is.

I guess what I'm saying is, look at my penis.  I am the passed-out Batman.

I stopped going to cons years and years ago, because I found I never actually had that much fun at them.  Soooooo very many people who are so profoundly uncomfortable with themselves as humans that they need to adopt a new personality and different skin for the weekend.

It's amusing at first, and then it's just this miasma of terrible, lonely, sadness.

Then, my kids dragged me to comi-con in Ottawa a few weeks ago.   They haven't changed much.

/maybe I just never went to the right type of "con".

I don't think you understand the concept.  Do you lack the ability to enjoy a visit to the zoo?

When you go to the zoo, you don't actually want to BE one of the animals, but you can still have fun observing them.

Wow...

This thread is packed with so much win. Theres all the 'Ima chick and look how awsome and hot and cool and geeky i can be" all the while not realizing they are crazy people warn guys not to stick their dick in

And their white knights with their endless variations of "you go girl" As if they cared about more than the titties. But icant blame them that much really -- who doesnt like titties?

Theres the 'Im so cool cause i cosplay obscure and in no way come off as a cheetos feasting weirdo' -- Being the king of weirdos still makes you a weirdo.

Theres the 'woah now lets not all fly off the handle lets all be reasonable" guys who dont seem to realize they are talking to the most cross eyed attention whores FARK can muster. Usually good sentiment but in here its like trying to talk down some guy high on pcp wielding a chainsaw and screaming about how his mother is satan.

Theres the "im so above this im out fark allyall" And they are giving WAY to many farks about the internet.

Theres the "Yo guys heres a stack of titties in costumes" people. And to them i say thank you. You are as wise as you are benevolent and horny.

All together i think everyone makes up a pixel in a larger picture that is farking awesome. This thread is allot of fun to read. Drama left. Drama right. And lots of titties and buthurt. This is why the internet exists. This thread right here. (that and titties -- did i mention titties?)

\And regarding the photoshopped pic of the girl in the cow outfit.... She looks pretty decent without the shooping. I think you would. We all would. Pound that shiat out like a veal cutlet. bam. Bam. BAM.

Was outside of comic con the other day. There were some interesting costumes, including one very tall, somewhat large woman who appeared to only have a small cloth hanging down to cover her ass. It flapped when she walked. If there was anything else under there, it was deep in a place few mortals would dare to tread.

Goddammitsomuch, Cosplayers ruined these things. You're not going to a comic convention; You're going to a cosplay convention where they have a few comics. You're going to show off and promote yourself; Not comics.

Call me when there's a comic convention that bans cosplayers.  I'll go back when that happens.

Yea. I would say I'm pretty farking geeky.

Okay, I'll play Devil's Advocate here...

Quick, without searching online:

What are the real names of every man who has been The Flash (Earth one and Earth two)?
Who killed Bruce Wayne's parents?
What's Peter Parker's middle name?
What's May Parker's maiden name?
Who are the Badoon?
How did members of the Skrull Kill Krew get their powers?
Who is the current Venom?
Who is the current Spider-Man (in the main Marvel Universe)?
What's Earth-2's Superman's real name?
Where did Diana (Wonder Woman) come from? Not where did she live, but where did she  come from?
Is the Dragonman alive?
How tall is Wonder Woman?
What was Stan Lee's popular exclamation?
Name three characters co-created by Jack Kirby.
Who is Jim Hammond?
Who killed Hitler in the Marvel Universe?
How did Morbius get his powers?
Who is Miles Morales?
Who is Rick Jones?
What is Wundagore?
How did the Inhumans gain their powers?

Answer 75% of those correctly and then you can say you're a comic geek.

Otherwise, you're a tech nerd, and  Nerd does not equal Geek, no matter how skimpy your Leia bikini is.

I'm not saying this makes you better or worse than anyone. I'm just saying that if someone doesn't know anything about comic books, it doesn't make sense that they'd go to a comic book convention, unless they're going for a reason other than an interest in comics.

And if you did answer them all without looking them up, then kudos to you. Enjoy the comic con.

Those questions represent a pretty narrow view of comics - I didn't know a single one of them - but to say I have no interest in comics is ridiculous. Clearly, though, I don't share your interest in them. I have no interest in Marvel/DC type superheroes, for example, but that wouldn't stop me from pursuing my interests in comics there if I felt like it.

You might flex your imagination a bit more, and adjust what makes sense to you. Just a thought.

czei: I'll be taking my 13YO daughter to Comic-con this year, which will be the first time for both of us.

Jealous? I have you know I fully support her! Unfortunately when I try and be "outgoing" the police arrest me. I often cosplay as inspector gadget wearing only his trench coat, fedora, and a smile (its from my special fanfic "inspector gags-it") and people just don't have the same respect for me when I do what attention whores do, oops I mean brave female cosplayers. I try to stay in character, and scream "go go gadget genitals!" but the lame-o prudes never see that I am just enjoying a hobby I love and most definitely not just a strange attention starved average gir...I mean guy who is jealous of actual pretty gir...oops I mean attractive guys who get attention without dressing up in nerdy outfits and flashing tons of skin.

Don't mistake, she is brave, almost a civil rights leader even.

See? You prove my point. I don't care about people wanting to dress up and go to a show. Why do you get to decide who does it? Also, why all the anger? You have no idea who I am.

Why are you so angry about women at these conventions? There's serious hatred in all of your posts. I've only recently ready about this phenomenon. Your anger and wild personal insults show you are the person I've heard about. So who peed in your cheerios? Why all the hate on the women who show up in costume?

About the time all the fat obnoxious chicks found out they could get attention from lonely neckbeard white knights if they dress up in slutty comic related costumes.

You are making a presumption that I am angry about women at conventions. I do not mind women at conventions, I in fact like having them there. I would however, rather they be there because they actually enjoy the shiat the convention is about. If a female goes to a convention because she really enjoys the comic book scene, then cool...she wont need to dress up in thermal bandage lee loo or whatever skimpy costume she decides to dawn, because then its obviously not about enjoying the fandom, its about attention whoring. This is not enjoying or contributing to comics, its something different, it makes the comics secondary and the attention whore primary.

OH LOOK, LOOK AT ME, IM HALF NAKED BOYS, NOW GIVE ME TICKETS SO I CAN GO IN AND GET MY EGO SATED!

Is far different then

I bought my tickets a year in advance and I am hoping for some unique artwork by (insert artist here) or to get my picture taken with comic artist, or to get info on the new 52 restart..

Do you not see how farking different and destructive these attention whoring trollips are? They literally shiat up everything they touch with drama and literal attention whoring. OH WOW thanks biatch I cant get to the booth behind you because you are too busy wiggling your ass in front of cameras. It is hate, its a hate for ATTENTION WHORES, not comic fans who happen to be women, and if you cant tell the difference, you are part of the problem.

Wearing costumes, showing skin, having fun, no big deal.

Be sexy.

But using your body as currency to trade for tickets, money, well, honey, there's a name for that profession.

It isn't what you're doing, it's that what you are doing cheapens Comic Con and cosplay.

And yourself.

This has happened at any event since the start, ever been to a concert? The problem isn't the women, it is the men, artists, musicians, etc that placate them at the expense of those that are actually interested in what they do. So unless you're going to try to convince every woman on the planet not to go to what ever event you're going to, you may be better off telling event organizers or the artists themselves.

ZeroCorpse: Since when is Leeloo a comic book character?  And comic adaptions of movies don't count.

Wasn't the 5th Element a manga before it was a movie?

Just sayin'...

Jesus, I don't even know where to jump in here... some of these comments are a little heavy handed. I like cosplay... I think its great to see women do cosplay... its effen awesome. if some of them are paid for their time and have a little more professional costume support... so what? I don't consider it attention whoring in the least... if anything it draws more foot traffic/cash to the industry which in turn generates new blood, new artists and new products... which in my opinion can only be a good thing over-all. dont be so judgmental about the state of things now...the marrying up of comics and other types of media was/is brilliant. if it hadn't happened when it did (80's?? with movies and then in the mid 90's with the internet) the industry would be totally dead by now.

Again you keep using the word women, but its not women, its attention whores.

Again also, its not the artists and men who are telling them to dress up like whores, it is their need for attention. Plenty of women go to comic conventions and are there for the content, an overwhelming amount go to prance around and get attention. This thread and event is sponsored by two of them.

I'm sorry no one wants to pay attention to your dime store "fedora Batman" costume you poured you 250 lbs of biscuits and gravy into when there are women around. You are a tragically bitter individual. The only thing destructive at ComicCon is turds like you.

Psst..no matter how many times you go "WOW YOU ARE SUCH A HOT GEEK GIRL" you will still be sitting alone after the convention playing with your cock in your fursuit.

I'll take your word for it. I can't imagine you calling women whores, biatches and trollops after they turn you down hasn't made you a chick magnet though.

Actually, WOMEN, again, something you cant distance from attention whore, I do not call names, because they behave like farking women and not biatches trollops and whores.

A sad day when you can't tell the difference between a woman who enjoys comics and an attention whore that uses comics for an excuse to attention whore.

So, you think I can't tell the difference because I'm not filled with impotent rage on the subject? Maybe I don't worry about how anyone gets into ComicCon. I am amazed you can even function in the outside world.

wingedkat: magicgoo: Wait, wait.

Aw, need a hug?
/kinda want that t-shirt now.
