"I knew he didn't have a gun," said Gonzalo Murillo Montoya

Sure you did.

Wow, another bang-up job by the authorities in Colorado. I guess they've been bored since farking-up Columbine. On the same note, that state seems to have more than their fair share of schizo-whackos. Must be something in the water.

our cops just love killin innocents.... how's about we actually have cops that stop crime instead of busting into houses and shooting people? Or strapping some poor bloke down so he cant breathe

Somthing needs to be done....

headed to a Libertarian party meeting,

2002-01-15 01:23:54 PM
Let this a lesson
DO NOT! commit crimes and go to McDonalds barefooted, you could die

2002-01-15 01:25:26 PM
How can you possibly blame the cops here? A crazed violent man that took several officers to restrain, suddenly dies. Hmmm...does that sound drug related possibly? I also love the quote his brother said about knowing the guy didn't have a gun. That's great, but the cops didn't know that. Plus it sounds like this guy was acting crazy enough to be a danger to people around him.

Fark a Duckk

"Oops.."

2002-01-15 01:29:48 PM
From the story:
"The two officers tried to detain Montoya, who had a black belt in kickboxing, but he continued to struggle, he said."

No he didn't have a gun, but he did have a freakin black belt in kickboxing!

2002-01-15 01:30:35 PM
You know, in time, those cell phones could cause cancer, so these police officers were only doing what was in the public's best interest.

2002-01-15 01:31:43 PM
"My name is Gonzalo Murillo Montoya. You killed my Brother for carrying a cell phone. Prepare to Die!"

2002-01-15 01:33:40 PM
People need to know that when confronted by police: Just do what they say. Do not argue with them.

I say this and I don't even like cops. BTW, my bro is a cop...I almost like him

2002-01-15 01:37:21 PM
Sounds like a little too much PCP to me.

"He said he had been partying with a girl;"

and by partying you mean...hmmm...i wonder.

sounds like someone who was totally hopped up on sauce had a heart attack after resisting arrest.

"started shouting for someone to call the police, that the two officers weren't real police"

OK, either the drugs were a little stronger than he thought, or the voices in his head overpowered him.

Either way, no big loss.

2002-01-15 01:44:30 PM
"Montoya then walked into the McDonald's and started shouting for someone to call the police"

So, give him a cup of 'hot' coffee....

2002-01-15 01:50:10 PM
I do not see anything wrong with
the job the police did with this.

Stoopid. Must be a Mark Furman cover-up

2002-01-15 02:14:11 PM
Perhaps cell phone manufacturers will adopt the same policy as toy gun makers, and put some bright orange on them....

2002-01-15 02:19:23 PM
I'm not exactly pro-police, but it sounds like these officers responded correctly from what little information there is. It's unfortunate the guy died, but I don't think it was directly a result of the police.
Just out of curiousity, is there such a thing as a "black belt" in kick boxing? I thought those classifications were reserved for the more traditional martial arts...

2002-01-15 02:30:58 PM
I have a black belt in beer drinking!

2002-01-15 02:38:27 PM
aint that a biatch

2002-01-15 02:45:23 PM
Dingus13: I could be wrong, but I think most martial arts don't use belts as skill determination. I think "black belt" is just a synonym to the general public for "really really good at it."

2002-01-15 03:07:15 PM
Purple_duckk: have you ever seen a person in shock? They're completely disoriented and sometimes react violently. All his behaviour could be attributed to shock -- or it could be drugs or he could be a psychotic freak.

2002-01-15 03:13:53 PM
wow, denver cops are shiatheads. couple years ago, they bust into a home on a warrent, and shoot a guy to death. ends up they had the WRONG house.

2002-01-15 03:15:34 PM
My partner once pulled a cellphone off a 15 year old kid that had been converted to fire a .22 cal round through the antenna.

2002-01-15 03:38:49 PM
Yeah, the guy deserved to die because he was acting weird, waving a cell phone around, maybe high, and was barefoot.

Yup, definitely grounds for justified cop homicide.

Right.

Fu<king pigs.

2002-01-15 04:10:44 PM
Tucci: wtf? justified cop homicide???? Are you joking? Please tell me you are trolling.

What did they do, FORCE him to have a heart attack?

You are an awesome armchair QB. Ranting because some low-life on meth died. You probably think being a cop is a well-paying job where everybody loves you and no one questions your actions.

You sound like some bitter two-bit crook. Which prison are you in again? Say 'hi' to all the home-boys in D-Block.

2002-01-15 04:24:26 PM
Tucci

The cops recieved 2 different 911 calls saying a person matching the description of the person was waving a gun at passing cars. He didnt respond to the cops orders to put down and raise his hands, what was in his hands and resisted arrest. He got restrained. It isn't like the cops beat him to death with their night sticks.

But why let details get in the way of a good cop bashing rant.

2002-01-15 04:25:36 PM
Eric of Doom: um...yeah...me too. I think most coroners don't use "dead" as life determination. I think "dead" is just a synonym to the general public for "really really sick."

2002-01-15 04:27:16 PM
d'oh

that second sentance should read

He didnt respond to the cops orders to put down what was in his hands, raise his arms above his head, and he resisted arrest...

thank you drive through

2002-01-15 04:28:40 PM
"People need to know that when confronted by police: Just do what they say. Do not argue with them. "

If I havent commited a crime they need a warrrent. I dont have to do shiat unless they have papers.or at least thats how it should be.... farking bullshiat drug laws

oh but wait, my spliff is a crime so I must be a deadly character... I better watch my ass befor I get beat to death for "exhaling with intent to cause contact high"

(not anti-cop just tired of reading about them pulling bullshiat)

2002-01-15 04:33:49 PM
Oh, I am sure that this was the cops' fault.

Yeah right.

Sounds like he was lit up on meth and had a heart attack.

I wonder how he walked two miles with no shoes?

Yeah, I wonder.

2002-01-15 04:35:55 PM
Yes, I have heard of shock, but how that makes the police any more liable for his death doesn't quite hold up. Police recieve not one, but two calls. They go to investigate. While on scene they encounter someone who reacts violently towards them. What exactly would be the correct proceedure? Let them run around your neighborhood, get crazy in the McDonalds where you and your family are enjoying your egg McMuffins? I bet every person reading this would have felt better when the police put this joker in restraints if they were there.

Fark a Duckk

2002-01-15 04:36:13 PM
That's pure brilliance Smoky, so when someone in your neighborhood calls 911 because someone is waving a gun around, or breaking into a house, the cops should first head down to the court house and get that warrant before heading down to your neighborhood and look for the person and hope to god he hasn't shot anyone yet.

2002-01-15 04:38:05 PM
I don't even know why the cell-phone is mentioned in the headline. It had nothing to do with this incident. I'm always ready to bash cops when they screw up, but this one looks clean.
If he's a martial arts guy fighting the police, they strapped him down for his own safety.

To those who slammed the cops on this one: next time you're walking down the street minding your own business and some shoeless, irrational moron is running in traffic and acting crazy, take him down yourself, don't bother the police with your problems.

2002-01-15 06:09:28 PM
Why did he have to go into McDonalds to ask people to call the police if he had a cell phone?

2002-01-15 06:10:54 PM
Question:
Why?

Likely answers:
PCP, Crack, Cocaine, Alcohol, Methamphetimine.

Police deal with these situations daily.
Do not resist the police.
Remember, law-abiding citizens pay them to do this thankless job.
If they misuse their authority, believe me, they are held accountable.

2002-01-15 07:41:14 PM
f they misuse their authority, believe me, they are held accountable.

That's hilarious.
What colour is the sky in your goody goody fairy world?
You have lived a very sheltered life, or choose not to see police corruption.

Whatever the guy did, he didn't deserve to die in a takedown.

2002-01-15 07:58:28 PM
nokia old school cell phone... hold it to make it look like the whole phone is the gun barrel. your thumb goes behind the screen where the tab is to open the battery... two fingers across the face... antenna rests in V made between thumb and first finger...

trust me, it looks EXACTLY like a gun. i walked through the office one time and as i walked past a cube this woman screamed bloody murder, she thought i was going postal. it took me a bit to convincer her it was just my phone, and we were standing in an office under flourescent light.

trust me, it looks exactly like a gun. and i got no sympathy for this moron. he's obviously on drugs, and like that jackoff that got shot 41 times or whatever in nyc... i'm sure he was all agitated screaming "you want my wallet?" with his hand inside his jacket acting crazy.

fark 'em. we never get "person completely standing there minding their own business mistaken for gun" always some fruitloop out making a mess of themselves.

2002-01-15 08:30:17 PM
Kinda reminds me of "For Richer or Poorer" where that guy Brad gets his cell phone shot out of his hand...the one guy screams, "He had a PHONE!!!"

2002-01-15 08:47:47 PM
I wonder if Bruce Sprinsteen will write a song about this.
