This is very sad indeed.
2002-01-15 11:23:46 AM
I guess 'Blow 2' will have to be put on hold...
2002-01-15 11:24:06 AM
Massive heart attack at 38 while playing basketball.

Perhaps too much 'blow' before the game.
2002-01-15 11:25:40 AM
man this sucks, thank god we have that free Hal download though.
2002-01-15 11:26:13 AM
oh man, at a celebrity basketball game... suck-o!
2002-01-15 11:26:13 AM
Damn....I'M 38....

2002-01-15 11:31:06 AM
Cocaine overdose?
2002-01-15 11:32:10 AM
I thought, when my dad died of a heart attack at 40 that that was young. 38. Scary.
2002-01-15 11:32:13 AM
I predict record rentals of 'Blow' and 'Beautiful Girls' coming up this weekend.
2002-01-15 11:32:45 AM
How will Hollywood every replace such a pillar of creativity?

Karma is calling- and you are over due.
2002-01-15 11:34:13 AM
This is news? it's only been on Foxnews and MSNBC for about 24 hours.
2002-01-15 11:34:53 AM
I think in memorium we should make a film called "Beautiful girls blowing" starring Caboozy and myself of course

2002-01-15 11:37:39 AM
as anyone asked HAL how he's feels about this?
2002-01-15 11:38:04 AM
Rabb: Would it be on DVD?
2002-01-15 11:38:25 AM
Don't worry....the "good Demme director" is still alive. This was the "MTV crap director livin off his uncle's coattails Demme".

Plus he is responsible for Dennis Leary being famous..he should have been punished by death awhile ago.
2002-01-15 11:38:39 AM
Toetag seeing as I only go to Foxnews and MSNBC if following a link off Fark to it, I would have to say "yes. This is news".

But again, right up at the top of the page^^^

It tell's its not, its FARK.
2002-01-15 11:43:21 AM
Demme was participating in a celebrity basketball game at the private Crossroads School...

now every high school is going to want a celebrity death at their fundraisers.
2002-01-15 11:44:22 AM
Rabbito - Will this be filmed at the Chicago Fark Party?
2002-01-15 11:45:29 AM
43% - No shiat! Bob Hope will be asked to appear at all of them - just to up their chances.
2002-01-15 11:47:42 AM
So there really is a Chicago fark party? Or did I miss something yesterday since I wasn't allowed to come to work, bomb threat and all.
2002-01-15 11:49:48 AM
Capt - Omar and I are talking about it. It has been given the go ahead. We are working on date/place. Any date look good to you?
2002-01-15 11:51:38 AM
Capt_Sheridan: Of course, complete with different camera angle options

Caboozy: Maybe afterwards ;-)

2002-01-15 11:52:36 AM
Caboozy: Well, need a picture of ya to look at first. :-) Nothing planned except maybe early March I may jump down to Cancoonto pretend to be in college for one more year.
2002-01-15 11:53:15 AM
he looked a biatchunky
2002-01-15 11:53:49 AM
hmmm ok 'bit-chunky'
2002-01-15 11:56:44 AM
ohhhhh k then, hows bout another photoshop mister contest winner?

2002-01-15 11:56:57 AM
Hey - Scatpack -

blow it out your ass. Beautiful Girls is my favorite movie, and No Cure for Cancer resurrected the comedy film.

This actually really upset me when i heard it last night.

Stick to your Hannibal remakes.
2002-01-15 11:57:28 AM
Capt: If you want to take a road trip, we would love to see you in Chicago...its just a hop, skip and a jump...

Rabbito - That would give you sloppy seconds
2002-01-15 11:59:07 AM
Caboozy: ditto

2002-01-15 12:01:14 PM
Rabb: Sweet! I can use multi angle for the first time. No DVD ever has it, except pron of which I own none. Just can't bring myself to walk into a place where you aren't sure what sticky stuff you are stepping in.

Caboozy: Road trip here I come! Just hope someone feeds my boa while I'm gone... [/pun]
2002-01-15 12:07:34 PM
Dave Thomas, Ted Demme, who's the third?

Who's that guy who played Ali?
2002-01-15 12:08:36 PM
Freckledick - Will Smith?

They both have "D" and "T" in their name.....
2002-01-15 12:08:53 PM
Ted Danson?
2002-01-15 12:09:41 PM
Scatpack Denis Leary kicks ass. It's called humor, look into it!
2002-01-15 12:11:28 PM
maybe he'll come to life again, we've read about it happening before huh...
2002-01-15 12:12:26 PM
This just about sums it all up I think:

Hal: Good afternoon, Rabb. Have you had lunch?

Rabb: not yet, I would like another photoshop contest though

Hal: I understand everything i am programmed to understand.

Rabb: what the fark are you talking about?

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'Compliment'

2002-01-15 12:13:52 PM
Dick Trickle?

2002-01-15 12:16:37 PM
Tony Danza?
2002-01-15 12:16:46 PM
DUDE! I soooo submitted this yesterday as a link from I'm pissed!
2002-01-15 12:17:35 PM
Had high expectations for blow, but it was a crap film.

Only reason it got made by him was cos his old man was some hot shot director.
2002-01-15 12:18:33 PM
Damn they weren't kidding about those hummers.
2002-01-15 12:23:37 PM
Man what a damn shame. :'( I rather liked his films...although the jury is still out on Blow.

Yes, I know he was the fat bloated newphew but I've got to give him props for letting my favorite band play in Beautiful Girls.

He'll be missed.

[image from too old to be available]

*btw the band's from DC, Ohio and Kentucky :P*
2002-01-15 12:25:01 PM
Linda Lovelace is alive and well.

A plug for Jonathan Demme's 'Storefront Hitchcock'. JD does stage-films - Talking Head's 'Stop Making Sense' and Spalding Gray's 'Swimming to Cambodia'. Robyn Hitchcock does a solo gig in a storefront in NYC one afternoon. If you like Hitchcock's songwriting or Demme's stylings, you'll dig Storefront Hitchcock.
2002-01-15 12:53:07 PM
Well, I hate to be the one to say it... but with movies like Life and The Ref under his belt... perhaps it's for the best that he can no longer plague our theater with his mediocre CRAP.

Oh, yeah, and it's sad he died.
2002-01-15 01:00:22 PM
I'm not familiar with any of his other movies besides, blow. I thought it was a great movie depicting the drug cartels very well, and explained most everything known about the drug trade in the 80's.
2002-01-15 01:05:08 PM
Rabb: Don't even joke about Dick Trickle! That guy is my favorite NASCAR Driver. Anyone with a name like that and still manages to put himself in the public eye has cahones the size of cantaloupes!
2002-01-15 01:07:28 PM
Marlas: Damn straight. I'm listening to the Whigs right now. In fact, it's the Barry White cover they did in the film ("Can't Get Enough of Your Love Baby"). I think "Beautiful Girls" was an underrated film.
2002-01-15 01:14:04 PM
I am right there with you Capt, I am a huge NASCAR fan as well.

2002-01-15 01:19:59 PM
Rabb: Ah, racing... NASCAR, where the best seats are in the in-field where you can lose your hearing in a heartbeat. :-) Still can't believe I'm spending $140 to go see the F1 (read: atomic angry bees) race in Indianapolis again.
