If there's one thing we WILL NOT tolerate in Alabama, it's free thought!

The really creepy part is they think Jesus loves them all the more for it.

Alabama did something right, and has to furiously punch itself in the face for doing so, I see.

2018-01-13 10:00:17 AM
That surely won't come back to bite them in the midterms.  Alabama voters showed there's enough to will to elect a Democrat, and now the GOP wants to prove their decision was right.

Dallas investor Christopher Ekstrom has been helping bankroll the anti-Shelby campaign in Alabama.

Way to go 'Bama conservatives!  You are allowing some asshole from Texas to make you look stupid.  Not that you needed any help, of course.

I don't think the resolution goes far enough. If he's going to be radically anti-pedophile, they should demand he leave the party and go caucus with the Democrats in the Senate.

You didn't need to read the article for that. Subby covered that in the first two words of the headline.

As I said, inconsequential ...

The resolution blasts Sen. Shelby for "publicly encouraged Republicans and all voters to write in a candidate instead of voting for the Republican Candidate Judge Roy Moore."

You know, being thrown off the bench should come with the additional penalty that you can no longer be called a judge. Just seems right to me. This should be treated equally to if they called him Republican Candidate Astronaut Roy Moore.

The leopards in Alabama are now eating their own faces.

2018-01-13 11:43:47 AM
Let's see if the resolution passes first.  I don't hold much hope for the Alabama GOP but continuing to splinter the local party over a nationally embarrassing candidate is stupid even for them.

I know it has been said here many times, but the full force of it is really coming home to me.

They are evil. This isn't merely ideology; it isn't even merely greed. They are evil.

They will be calling for a return to slavery soon. After that, I don't know. Auto da fes? Cutting off the hands of accused thieves? Drawing and quartering?

Censure Shelby, but not a word about Trump's  behavior?

Tell me more about your "morals", GOP

This just in, republicans are assholes. Okay, not exactly breaking news.

2018-01-13 11:48:41 AM
FTFAA pro-Moore political action committee, the Courageous Conservatives PAC, funded robocalls in December demanding Shelby resign.
"Sen. Richard Shelby stabbed President Trump and conservatives in the back," said one recorded phone call. "Tell Shelby you'll never forget his disloyalty to President Trump and the Republican Party for his treasonous actions. Tell Shelby he's betrayed his trust to Alabamians and he should resign his office. Call now."

Acting against The Party is Treason.

Senator Shelby should make it up to Roy Moore by resigning and allowing Moore to run for his seat.

2018-01-13 11:51:05 AM
The good news is, regular people who were never very politically motivated or never paid attention now know beyond doubt who and what the GOP represents. These people will be out voting in November, many for the very first time.

Yeah, by far, the scariest thing is that they called not blindly supporting the Alabama GOP and/or Trump, treason.

I do not think that means what they think it means.

I would say to Senator Shelby...go ahead and resign.

Then back the Democrat in the election to take your seat.

Then laugh as Alabama sends two Democratic Senators to Washington.

2018-01-13 12:06:26 PM
When a political party starts talking about how someone is not being "loyal" enough to a President, and when engaging in perfectly legal political speech (such as encouraging people to write in a different candidate) is cast as *Treason*, well, that should be sending a rather large signal that such a party has gone off its rocker and is positioning itself along disturbingly authoritarian lines.

2018-01-13 12:06:36 PM
Why self reflect? They likely think that the election was stolen through the devious practice of "Getting people registered and organized to vote on Election Day".

The victory margin was so slim over there that they probably don't see the need to run a better candidate, just purge so more voter rolls, get the cops out there to intimidate properly next time and they'll probably have it in the bag.

So, when Republicans talk of "treason" they mean "disloyalty to President Trump"

When Democrats talk of "treason" they mean "Helping Russians elect a person they control/blackmail to the Presidency"

. . .neither is the exact legal definition of Treason, but the latter is a LOT closer and more in the spirit of the legal definition in the US.

Also, if the former is "treason", then most of the American people are traitors according to Republicans.

It's not like he encouraged people to vote for Obama or something. Shelby said to write in Luther Strange, Trump's preferred candidate in the primary.

Just add "disgraced, former" as a prefix the same way we do with disgraced, former Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Look, you dimwits- Shelby's one vote didn't "stab trump in the back".  Moore lost by 20,000 votes.  Did Shelby influence others to vote against Moore?  I doubt it.  You can't tell an Alabama Republican anything.
