Latinwolf: 33rd Street on the C, D & F lines?

Opps, 34th St, but yeah looking at the article, this is the one.  Put your hand near it and it makes a sound, from years ago but I didn't know it was still working.

That's actually pretty neat.

According to the well edumacated writer, the sound is omitted. Really top notch reporting there.

First thing I thought of was the skeleton organ in Goonies. This is neat too though.

For those who would rather drive there are stretches of road that play music as you drive over them.

I actually got asked by a guy who used to be my train station master when I was a kid if I wanted to go back to his place to look at his artwork.

I was a grown up when he asked.

I said no thanks, waited for him to drive off and nearly died laughing. I thought that whole thing was a joke and nobody actually tried that line.

He never tried that on me as a kid though so I count him as a good guy.

There's probably a few organs hidden in the dark corners.

It still works?? I'm amazed.
At night it was fun to play a little music while waiting for the late again R train to Forest Hills. Umbrellas worked great if you didn't want to reach. It would also start playing music on its own occasionally which always seemed to catch someone by surprise.

I'm surprised that damn thing is only 22 years old, when I used that station a lot circa 2005 I assumed it was a lot older than that. It didn't always work and more or less sounded like a "space" preset on a Casio keyboard.

Nope, Broadway and 34th. R and N last time I was there.

Oh sure, it's ok for someone else, but when I try to tell a bunch of kids about my 'musical instrument' and now it's 'you gotta stay 2,000 feet from an elementary school, yuthinasia' :)

It better not be that secret musical instrument in the bathroom stall because I'm not falling for that again.

Which lips???

Both, in fact (they're on top of each other.) Though if that's actually the N&R platform, so be it.

(Checks the web...)

Yup, you're right, it's the uptown and downtown N and R platforms.

Do the instruments still work in the Boston T stations?

dolphinsgonwild: Which lips???

I would pay to see someone play a wind instrument using nothing but queefs...and then I would regret it immediately.

Go to Thailand. They do amazing things with Ping Pong balls, too.

I always play with my instrument while riding the subway.

I spent too much time in that station waiting for trains that were always late. Esp after 9:30pm.

cloudofdust: That's cool but 14th St. and 8th Ave. is still my favorite subway art.

Do you know that the artist who did those also has artwork at this park on the west end of Chambers Street?
(Well just below Chambers on the west end, past the highway)
