I have no recollection of that event.

Drink too much?

If anybody here ever feels they need a 'sober coach' you can give me a call.  I'll drink while you stay sober.  I'll get all kinds of sloppy and mean, piss on the carpet under the table at dinner, throw up right outside the restaurant, make a drunken pass at your Mom.  And the whole time I'll be yelling at you "this is what you act like when you're drunk, too!"

So I'm surprised when my Amazon order for two cases of Cinnamon Toast Crunch arrives?

Apparently, at my best friend's wedding, I was hanging out at the reception after the wedding and suddenly went face first down to the ground.  I remember very little of the evening.

Had I stuck to just weed, like I usually do, this would not have happened.

That used to happen to me a lot in college. I wasn't trying to get hammered, I just drink fast. Thirsty, I guess. Finally, I hit on the idea of picking another person I was with, anyone, and not getting another drink until they did. Cut my consumption way down. No more blackouts.

You mean I'm not supposed to do that?

I have all my orders shipped to my office.  Those make for fun days when the mail shows up.   "Hey blatz, what did you order from Amazon?"

"I don't know, let's find out!"

I never blacked out from drinking, but I did occasionally have an allergic reaction to alcohol that resulted in a face rash which bore a striking resemblance to a penis drawn crudely with a magic marker...

That's great and all but can he explain why alcohol makes me more handsome, a great dancer, and makes me a 10th degree black belt?

Oh, the stories I have been told. Apparently I'm a fun drunk, though, so I have that going for me.

I've been severely drunk a few times. Bad enough that I should have been sent to a hospital rather than shoved in a cab and dumped 'near' my house in freezing conditions. But I've only blacked out once. The only time I truly don't remember anything was when we got drunk and then saw SW Episode II on opening night.

I don't think that anything on the video or transcript counts as explaining "why" it happens it's more of a statement basically saying that it happens. Maybe the farker was drunk and couldn't farking remember what the fark his research is supposed to say. Or maybe he didn't do any research and is just some drunk pretending to be a scientist.

I've noticed that speed of drinking has more to do with having a blackout than quantity. A 375 in less than hour could mean a blackout, but a 750 over five hours would not.

Alcohol makes me sleepy, so while I've had enough to drink where I found a comfy chair to take a nap in, or went upstairs to go to bed. But I've never 'blacked out'.

Generally, bedtime for me happens after about 9 shots worth of 40% ABV liquor in a short enough period of time (EX, if I drink that in a 1 hour timeframe, it's naptime, but if I drink that over a 3 hour timeframe, I hardly even have a buzz).

How much are the folks upthread drinking that makes them instantly pass out?

FTA:

Under those circumstances people can have very disturbing and frightening experiences because, in addition to having impaired judgement, they can't remember at all what happened when they were drinking, and that leaves them to try to fill in the details of those events, and that could lead to all kinds of ideas about terrible things that might have happened.

The author sees the glass as half empty. You got to see it as half full. Or in my case, just refill the glass with more scotch and forget about it.

There was a work function in Toronto some years back... Canadian police are very tolerant. We should have seriously been kicked out of the country.

If I have a free Saturday or Sunday, drinking begins around 10am-ish.  So anything late afternoon/night is up for grabs of whom I've texted or what I've ordered.

/I have a bar across the street from my place

Probably for the best that you don't remember that abortion of a movie.

Once was on a cruise with my wife and she went to bed early and I stayed up and partied. I don' remember anything of the whole night. The next morning we were going for a late breakfast and on the way there kept getting "Hi Snotty, how you doing". I didn't know any of these people and the wife was getting pissed as this happened about 30 times throughout the day. I don't know what happened but it seems I had a lot of fun with a lot of different people.

I've never blacked out. Ever. I DO however seem to gain an understanding of God, the universe, and everything. It ALL makes sense for that brief span of several hours. And then it's gone the next day. Amazing isn't it?
