They probably only built that mosque in the first place to entrap him into vandalizing it so they could pay his fines and make him look bad. Sneaky Muslims.

It's a good thing, but I doubt the vandal will be able to appreciate the act. He probably still wants the congregation out.

Difficulty, they had to pay the fine at a gun range.

Don't be so cynical.  He might.

The real issue is whether the mosque is gonna bail out every racist bubba who decides to vandalize their property?

No, actually he had a complete turnaround. NPR had a story about it. He was totally upfront about the bad headspace he was in and fessed up to making a huge mistake.

He couldn't scrape together $1700 to avoid six years in jail?

Take away his tv and tell him he has to get a job pushing a mop at the mosque. Clearly has too much time on his hands to consume right wing propaganda all day.

You know, its stuff like this that I need to remind myself that stereotypes are wrong and that there are good people everywhere. After a while, hearing all about how nasty $group is, it's hard not to start feeling disheartened and like following the crowd or like things are absolute shiat.

There are definitely shiatty people in the world, and evil does exist, but it's not so obvious as to wear a flag or a race or a color or a religion for easy identification.

I completely agree but that's not the point of this story. Jumping in here to point it out is just being a dick.

Like if your nephew or niece was excited to tell you that their football team winning a big game would you immediately tell them about the dangers of head trauma?

Well, not right now he can't. But that's only because he's in temporarily embarrassed circumstances. He is, of course, a millionaire. Or will be, as soon as they lower those pesky corporate tax rates and the wealth just comes trickling down.

To be fair, I know quite a few armed Muslims who are more intelligent, safe, and patriotic than most of the hard-core Derp patrol I run into on a regular basis.

I'll take an intelligent gun owner who's muslim over a completely retarded AFDB-wearing jackass who believes in THAR TEKKIN MUH GUNS AND MUH JERBS! any day.

Imagine that - Muslims are more Christ-like than the evangelicals who want all of them butchered with impunity. It's like Gandhi said; "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

As a completely off-topic aside, I had someone literally try to argue that just because some people decided it was better to not be a dick to people who risked everything to leave shiatholes where they were literally in danger of death or extreme poverty to come here to the US for a better life by not just flat out deporting them wherever they found them, that this meant that we REALLy wanted to open the gates and import MORE.

Like, seriously, are people so paranoid that doing the humane thing with regards to illegal immigrants automatically means that people want to subvert everything and import them by the boatload?  And the corollary to that, are they so jaded that they think these are people who come here with malicious intent? Like, they sit up at night planning and rubbing their hands together, plotting ways of coming to America and farking over the hated American all so they can make minimum wage or less doing absolutely shiat jobs because they just KNOW it will fark over Americans?

The more I think about it, the more absolutely batshiat insane it sounds.

I'm staggered by your well thought out and insightful post. You've changed my life and mind. Now I too dislike all Muslims based on the incident you mentioned and cannot see the good in any other actions by any other Muslims. Like, I really dislike these people now. Thanks for you're input. You're doing the world a huge favor helping people see the bad in everything. If you look back on your day and wonder if it was worth getting up for, remind yourself you convinced aother's heart to hate today and that's gotta count for something!

Kit Fister: randomjsa: And Islam like Christianity is still a death cult that the world would be better off without.

I dunno. I think the issue is less the belief/religion, and more the interpreters of the doctrine. I'm not Christian, I'm Norse Pagan. But even so, I can read the bible and realize that Jesus was a righteous dude who had a good idea, and who was someone that was worth listening to, even if you ignore the mysticism side (Which I still question, considering that all the accounts of his life were from 100+ years after his death, and he wasn't deified/declared a deity until the 3rd Century when the Roman Orthodoxy put together that council to basically declare what was and wasn't canon for the religion.)

It's the same for the Quran, or the Hindu texts, or pretty much any religious text of the modern age. They all have good wisdom and are generally fighting for the better qualities of man, even if you don't buy the mystical/religious parts.

Besides, there's no belief system on earth that cannot be turned into a holy crusade and cause for evil by an evil person, even atheism or science. That's the danger of anything that does not come by the hard fought work of the person doing the believing and instead is interpreted and delivered by another. Without the critical thinking, the belief system is just a vehicle for evil.

What a lot of people miss is the fact that Mohammad's new religion actually improved conditions in the Middle East from what had gone before. It was really quite a barbarous place. Still is, but less so.

It's the same issue in reverse when someone wants the immigration laws enforced and the borders properly policed they are accused of hating minorities and immigrants.

Everything is black and white.  Either you support complete open borders with absolutely no restrictions or you just hate anyone and everyone that isn't 100% white.  Anyone in between is immediately pushed into one category or the other(often both in the same thread) as soon as they post a statement that one side or the other doesn't like.

Also, if you don't think this is true, go back and read about the Nazis and the "Final Solution", and the foundation on which the practices were based, including the ideas of Eugenics.  That is one glaring part of history where pseudo-science was used by evil to do evil.

There's also events like the horrific tests done on blacks with Syphilis, where a scientific drive managed to override ethics and do great evil.

There is NO thing on earth which cannot be turned to evil by an evil person.
