Big10 is 7-1, and would be 8-0 if not for FIVE farkING MICHIGAN TURNOVERS.

Seriously though, they had a much better season than I had expected.

I'm watching OK up on GA with six minutes to go.  Nothing would please me more than watching another SEC loss, followed by yet another one.

You do know Disney owns ESPN and the SEC still has a broadcast deal with them, right?  No chance will the f3llatiing stop.  Look for the next title game to be Ohio State and Alabama from week 1 On.

I went to South Carolina, so I have no dog in this fight (pun intended), but this far this has been a great game.

Oklahoma's coach pretty much gave that game away on 3 consecutive drives.

Simple rules of winning:
-you have a Heisman winning QB, keep the ball in his hands
-if your offensive line sucks, call plays designed to get him out of the pocket, w/ run/pass options
-in a 2 minute drill, never go for a play shorter than 10 yards until you are well into field goal range

Sigh. If an all SEC championship happens, it will be the single worst thing that could happen to College Football. I hope their ratings nose-dive into ground.

Go Knights!

And screw the 4 team playoffs.  130 teams, but only a 4 team playoff, which you can't get into unless you're a member of the good old boy club.  What a joke.

Yes, but now you will get annual B1G vs SEC, instead of SEC vs SEC

I'm rooting for Georgia to win it all.

They punish the little guys but ignore anything the big guys do. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.

I leave it to you to decide which SEC I'm talking about.

SEC has basically been the Saban, Saban-lite or Urban Meyer show this entire millennium, anybody else has mostly been irrelevant or just there to be a foil to Saban and his minions once in a blue-moon.

For the most part it has been an insufferable conference full of retarded fans who cheer for blood-sucking tick schools who feed off of Alabama.

One of them has to lose next week, they'll go 1-1 in the championship game.

Alabama and Georgia for the national championship. Hmm. Doesn't have much national appeal --- TV ratings people won't be happy --- but it does say something about the football boys they grow and harvest in the fields of the SEC.

2018-01-02 12:38:53 AM
$EC vs $EC. Don't think it will have very good ratings, but the fan base will be even bigger insufferable douchebags than usual next season.

Perhaps at least GA will win so it will be a different team.

Auburn beat both Alabama and Georgia, and UCF beat Auburn.  Oh and UCF is undefeated.
The real champion of college football was decided before 5PM Eastern, but having those particular two teams in the scripted pro wrestling version of a national championship really puts an underline on it.
Congratulations to the National Champions of the 2017 college football season, the UCF Knights.

I'd say the record of bowl wins by an SEC team.  5-5.

That's a law of physics so it must be related to the secant function.

Very sad.  And I think UCF should have gotten the 4th slot.  But, now they are building a football reputation.  If they can do it again next year, that will almost certainly get them in the show.  Here's wishing for their continued success and that they don't refer to themselves as THE University of Central Florida.

Starting to think Saban may be onto something with this whole "skip the conference championship game" thing.  How many times has it worked out in his favor now?

I wonder how sad Ohio State is that they won the Big Ten, but didn't get in because they lost by 31 to an unranked Iowa team?

I guess the moral of the story is, don't lose by 31 to an unranked team.

I love how "by 31 points" always has to be included in that statement so it doesn't apply to Oklahoma and Clemson

The East Coast?  Because no one over there stays up to see how great certain Stanford players are?

Anyway, people who root for conferences or divisions are idiots.  While I fans of the NFL want to prove that the AFC West or NFC North or whatever is the hardest division to define their team, no one in NY or Dallas is going to root for the Eagles.  It's fricking stupid to root for your hated rivals to win because they are in your conference.  If your team plays against Alabama, now you hope they win?  Moronic.

Most collegiate team national championships:
Institution Location NCAA Team Titles
UCLA Los Angeles, California 113
Stanford University Stanford, California 113
University of Southern California Los Angeles, California 104
Pennsylvania State University University Park, Pennsylvania 49

Suck it.

So all the NCAA bigshots are sleeping in their barcaloungers every week and ignoring the mighty PAC? LOL.

SEC aside, I root for the AAC because I went to UCF and the AAC gets shiat upon routinely. UCF just beat the team that beat both championship contenders this year; they actually won their conference; and they finished undefeated...yet they are locked out. If this was an NCAA basketball-type championship, UCF would be the winner, hands down.

I honestly watched more of the Oklahoma-Jawjuh game than I've watched the entirety of college football this year. College sports are so fixed they're not even worth watching anymore. There's just too much power with certain entities. ... and, I'd argue, gambling interests....

Sadly, the NFL seems infected with such issues, too.

2018-01-02 04:19:08 AM
For the record, that's not a statement about the games tonight. I didn't see anything shady... I mean, aside from "hand multiple playoff berths to the SEC because reasons" bullshiat.

But it's happened quite a bit recently in the big levels of football. I USED to believe the NBA was the only fixed sport... used to believe that.

Alabama and UCF had a comparable number of big wins this season.

That says an epic shiat-ton about the SEC myth.
