I'm sure Tom Brady will be suspended for this.

Yes, let's trivialize the history of the Patriots cheating at football by equating a silly, but legal, intimidation tactic with the actual times the Patriots have been caught violating the rules of the game. See, if you think that Thermometergate's silly, you're bound to think that the other two are silly, as well...

If they need to go all mental on the almighty Jets it tells you they don't like they're chances.

...did you actually see that game? A high school varsity team could've beaten the Jets. I'm surprised the TV coverage didn't give up earlier - they switched over to the goddamned Browns game because it was more interesting.

If they hasn't done this they might have only won 22-9.

The Jets should have responded by just pouring cement into the drains in the Gillette locker room.

Pranks!

They should have put some clocks next to the thermometers to remind the Jets that TIME IS RUNNING OUT!11!!

It will work, cause it is so warm in New York in December.

Well, in light of this controversy, Denver had best remove all reminders of altitude from Dead Sporting Goods Company Field at No Specific Elevation.

The Pats under Belichick have always made a point of never treating any game as a cakewalk.

A hustle? Maybe. A scam? Perhaps. A bit of flimflammery? Who knows? But, a cakewalk? Never. After all, that's why they cheat - to gain an unfair advantage.

If reminding the opponent that it's cold is cheating, then the Green Bay Packers are the dirtiest team in NFL history.

you don't need a thermometer to know its FARKING COLD

In this thread, proper football inflation is SERIOUS business.

2018-01-01 11:04:26 AM
I was thinking it'd be a case of them setting the thermometers the Jets see to run like 20 degrees colder than it actually was, to make them think it's worse out.

That wouldn't be cheating, but it'd be something at least a little interesting, to show how insane they are about trying to get an advantage. This? FOH.

This article writer has a good point, breaking rules is totally the same as not breaking the rules.  This is definitely another -Gate scandal.

Yeah, that's pretty pathetic, even as an "intimidation" tactic. If they were playing Miami or Arizona, maybe this would matter, but it's farking New York. I'm pretty sure people in New York have seen a 13 degree day before. This doesn't belong in the list of bullshiat the Patriots have tried.

Some die hard fans carved out their seats in the snow and pretty much all that poked out over the top were their heads. Pats fans definitely have the cold weather chops...

I kind of see it the other way around. Since they've been dirty as hell in the Belichick/Brady years, this is somewhat amusing in an eyerolly sort of way.

Bear in mind it was originally just a tweet that somebody decided to write a 'story' about.

Mis-calibrated thermometers probably would have the reverse effect: "Holy crap dude, we are BAD ASS!! It's almost 10 below. I could have sworn it felt like 15 degrees or so. 10 below, and here we are, handling it like we were born to it!". I see it giving the targets more confidence.

No, "suck-gate". It's better, got that built in double-meaning, and makes people like me laugh every time we hear it, so it's got good name recognition.

The Packers are a dirty team. They cheat as badly as anyone. Rodgers admitted that they doctor balls, too. Matthews head hunts. They played games with the IR list to get an extra player to dress. They cheat as much as the Patriots but people love them so they ignore it.

Bazzlex001: I'd definitely consider this more of a thermometerghazi.  Because it's fabricated to sell headlines to rubes.

This.

I understand that the Lesser Haubaugh was a moron and decided to call a simple tackle-eligible play that he totally didn't see coming "deceptive." He's a Harbaugh, gotta protect that ego.
I understand that people STILL want to treat shooting video from an unapproved camera angle like shooting video at all is somehow verboten in the NFL. Because it's not like we don't have shows in every NFL market discussing film breakdown of games with coaches and/or players, something they do after every game.
I understand that people REALLY wanted it to be about the pressure of a football and not obstruction of justice, because obstruction of justice is a hard thing to understand.

But if you want to tell me that a bunch of grown-assed men, half of whom are from warm-weather states, even bothered to read a thermometer that usually isn't there, let alone needed it to understand that it was FARKING COLD in Foxboro yesterday, then I could literally use about a thousand different memes to explain how utterly full of shiat you are.

9/11 was only 16 1/2 years ago. The average age of players on the Jets is 27. So yes, they would remember 9/11.

The average is 27. The median is 25. That means on 9/11 they could either be described as age 9...or 11.

Of course it's farking cold. It's winter in New England. We're in a cold snap that's been 2.5 weeks long at the time of this game. For fark sake this shiat is getting old.
