Huh, I just watched this like an hour ago.

The whole special is just a little off-colour, which is exactly what comedy should be. Lighten up, Francis.

I agree with this in spirit, but the opposite side of the coin is that if you're going to insult someone, you gotta accept being insulted yourself. And stand-up comedians are some of the most thin-skinned, whiny, drama-queen crybabies on the entire f*cking planet.

In a world where police departments across the country have backlogs of untested rape kits going back years or even decades, 'he wanked at me over the phone' does have a certain eye-roll inducing quality to it.

Which one are you talking about? The ones that couldn't walk away from a fat bald man masturbating or Chapelle?

If you think that was bad you should have heard him basically tell a story from Iceberg Slim's book.

It was like Andy Kaufman, except with soul.

Seriously, though...I literally just finished that particular episode of the special.

He was comparing a woman who was on the phone and didn't hang up while Louie masturbated to what black people have had to deal with for 400 years. And he's right about that.

He said he can't even say "me too" anymore. He has to say, "I am also..."

Doesn't contain the surrounding context, but the actual bit goes:

"One of these ladies is like, 'Louis CK was masturbating, while I was on the phone with him!'"
*Chappelle does that Chappelle frown, shrugs*
"biatch you don't know how to hang up a phone?"
*Chappelle does that thing where he looks around as if someone is going to give him an answer*
"How. The fark. Are you going to survive in showbusiness, if this is an actual obstacle to your dreams?"

Is it still acceptable to mock people that completely over-react to minor or modest inconveniences?  Should we not laugh at the guy calls 911 because his 20-piece McNugget order only came with 19 McNuggets, the lady who sues a salon because they couldn't make her look like Jennifer Aniston even if her body looks more like Sarah Huckabee, or the man who drives his car into the side of a Starbucks because they overcharged him by $1.24?

I can't say I've ever experienced unsolicited phone masturbation before, but Chapelle is not wrong that hanging up would pretty much solve the problem right there, and yeah, if that scars you, you weren't cut out for a life in show-business to begin with.

I was talking about the bit in the special that is the subject of this thread. I'm glad you went and found some article that maybe proves your point even though it contains this:

But in an Aug. 23 interview with The Washington Blade, Chappelle himself elaborated on his live act, shrugging off the suggestion that he's transphobic. "I wouldn't consider myself that because I'm not even sure what the term means," he told the Blade's News Editor Michael K. Lavers. "Do I discriminate against somebody because they're trans? I would like to think absolutely not."

Oh, so maybe it doesn't.

I literally just watched one half of the special a couple hours ago. He said that gay people had no fear. That they weren't like these weak biatches who didn't know how to hang up a phone. If you're talking about some other time he said something else, I can't help you.

His comeback special? That's a couple years old now. Or are you talking about the special that was released tonight?

Maybe a couple years ago he told gay people to slow their roll, but tonight he was impressed by their lack of fear. There was nothing there that gave me the impression that he wanted to oppress gay people.

This was your post that kicked off our conversation. I'll bet there were at least 60 million people that were perfectly fine with him telling gay people to calm their tits. And there were at least 60 million people that were not fine.

There is no way that you can speak for the country. When at least 60 million people would disagree with you...you don't speak for anybody but yourself.

If you're talking about a guy with $100,000,000 (give or take a few tens of millions) the only people he can "punch up" to are Trump, the Koch Bros, Oprah and Zucherman and frankly I'm tired of hearing about those people.

I don't even know what the f*ck you're on about. But I know one thing...gay people have experienced  a fraction of the oppression that black people have. We laud how gay the ancient Greeks were. Gay people have existed and enjoyed surreptitiousness that black people never had a chance at.

You can pretend to not be gay. You can't pretend to not be black.

So if your problem is that he doesn't respect your struggle enough, well f*ck you.

Let me empower you. There's a button on your TV remote, it's likely to be one of the largest ones and conveniently colored in bright red. Next time you see Dave being mean to you push it. He'll go the fark away, immediately.

Dave's point in the bit was that this woman had a 'brittle spirit' if hearing Louis CK masturbate over the phone was enough to dissuade her from her dream of being a comedian because the business is tough. I don't know... is that mocking her if it's true? Maybe it's insensitive, but Dave says a lot of crazy shiat.  He wasn't defending Louis CK. He was saying that you have to stronger than this if you want to succeed in the business.

And even Alabama pushed that button against Roy Moore...and we've been pushing that button against Pat Robertson and his kind for decades...and they're still here.
