A lot of you have shiat taste in television.

2017-12-30 04:00:13 PM
Luke Cage was amazing, especially where they took it in Soliloquy of Chaos.

As if Rotten Tomatoes is a solid place to collect information anymore.
Always liked IMDB better, especially when you click on something and the rating is made up by 12 or 23 people.

2017-12-30 04:04:35 PM
I am sure most of you have heard of the proverbial shiat list.

TFA was a great example.

2017-12-30 04:22:06 PM
A more accurate list:
1) Stranger Things 1 & 2
2) The MARVEL shows
3) MST3K

...and the rest is filler.

2017-12-30 04:55:28 PM
I liked Ozark.

2017-12-30 04:58:11 PM
Iron Fist...man that was bad.

Half of it was a rehash of Batman Begins, and they really needed a martial artist who could act, not an actor with a crash course in Wushu.

Ray Park 15 years ago would have been great.

2017-12-30 05:06:20 PM
Yeah, I enjoyed this list back in early November.

That said, I generally don't have time or patience for "shows" and binge watching (though did watch and love American Vandal) , so this list was better for me:

All 42 of Netflix's notable original movies, ranked from worst to best

2017-12-30 05:07:44 PM

Sgt Otter: Iron Fist...man that was bad.

Hard to believe it has a 77% audience score. As someone here put it: Danny Rand is what you get when your Monk takes INT as a dump stat.

And I rewatched some of The Defenders the other night and it's amazing how often they let the villains monologue when they could have just killed them. Or when Jessica hits Elektra with the car and then just strolls right by her while she's on the ground instead of kicking her ass before she gets up.

2017-12-30 05:11:37 PM
And I'm sorry, the only way Luke Cage is better than Jessica Jones is the theme song.

Dr.Fey: Yeah, I enjoyed this list back in early November.

Ah, that explains why Punisher isn't on there.

2017-12-30 05:29:29 PM

bloobeary: 2) The MARVEL shows

Iron Fist was bad. Luke Cage was pretty good

2017-12-30 05:47:12 PM
Neo Yokio, 48 of 52

Excellent. List is valid.  It was the most atrociously awful thing I saw all year--including everything Trump did.  This was such an ungodly, frankly offensive, piece of condescending shiat that I wish one of the gizmos from Black Mirror could wipe it from my mind or anyone from American Vandal could draw dicks all over it to make it bearable.

2017-12-30 06:09:06 PM
Luke Cage was great right up until Cottonmouth made a exit. Then it took a giant crap. Diamondback was a really really bad replacement villain. Also, like most of the Marvel Netflix series (even the great ones), went on about 3-4 episodes too long.

Iron Fist was so unbearably bad I never started episode 2. It's baffling just how awful he is. He's easily the worst part of The Defenders.

Despite the biatching I like the rest of the marvel series.

2017-12-30 06:10:55 PM
Put me down as someone who enjoys The Ranch   it's nice to have a sitcom with arcs that reach across seasons and goes for straight adult humor.  Also you get to see Sam Elliot say f*ck a lot

2017-12-30 06:14:23 PM
No Godless? That was pretty good.

2017-12-30 06:14:52 PM
no Voltron?

2017-12-30 06:17:00 PM

The Bestest: no Voltron?

Too many short seasons and I've heard mediocre things about the last two seasons.  Need to binge it this weekend.

2017-12-30 06:20:00 PM

Occam's Yoyo: No Godless? That was pretty good.

I hope they do more like that - enough episodes to explore story arcs in detail, but don't even attempt to run for more than 2 or 3 seasons. Even Longmire went on too long, and that's my favourite netflix original.

2017-12-30 06:23:22 PM
Happy to see the love for GLOW. Alison Brie and Betty Gilpin are both great.

2017-12-30 06:23:38 PM
Last thing I liked was Mindhunter.

Trudged through season 1 of Daredevil and Jessica Jones and then gave up. Glow was ok.

Really upset that House of Cards is getting a "Poochie died on the way back to his home planet" after 2 or 3 years of expecting it to end.

2017-12-30 06:24:09 PM
Wow...  maybe a dozen good ones -- of those a handful of real winners.... and a bunch of turds.

Eh, whatever.   They can't all be winners.  At least Netflix is trying & they know their audience better than most.  Gotta take risks to find out what works.

Stranger Things is doing well.   House of Cards is about to be killed off (it was going downhill long before the Spacey controversy).  Glow was fun.   Orange is the New Black has been losing steam.  Mindhunter has potential.  Iron Fist was a disappointment.  Ozark -- can't wait to see what they do with it next season.  And Castlevania, too!

But, I'm sure everyone has their own favs... which is fine.  There should be something for everybody.

2017-12-30 06:33:32 PM
Loved Kimie Schmitt season one, but it went way down hill in season 2 because she was suddenly a seasoned New Yorker and not naive about modern life, which is what made the show funny.

2017-12-30 06:35:01 PM
Uh...where does Fuller House fall on the list? Asking for my niece

2017-12-30 06:41:36 PM

Occam's Yoyo: No Godless? That was pretty good.

List is from early November before that one came out.

2017-12-30 06:42:11 PM
Glow was fun. If you haven't seen it it's worth the time. I also like the show about the guy drawing dicks on the teachers cars. It actually took me a couple episodes to realize it was satire. Hey, my mother didn't raise any idiots but my dad sure did.

2017-12-30 06:43:16 PM

Shakes999: Luke Cage was great right up until Cottonmouth made a exit. Then it took a giant crap. Diamondback was a really really bad replacement villain. Also, like most of the Marvel Netflix series (even the great ones), went on about 3-4 episodes too long.

Absolutely. Cottonmouth was actually an interesting character. Once he died, there were no credible villain, and it seemed like the whole series was just waiting out the clock.

I watched Iron Fist because of its place in the Defenders miniseries, and yeah....not so great. I do think that it was hobbled by the material it had to work with, but that's not really an excuse. Reinvent that character if you have to. At the very least don't go with '90's era Justin Timberlake hair.

Jessica Jones would have been good at about half its length. People liked it because it was a poignant metaphor for sexual abuse, but there were some very bad, very very poorly acted episodes.

2017-12-30 06:43:40 PM
Sid_6.7: The First Half ofLuke Cage was amazing, especially where they took it in Soliloquy of Chaos

Like most of the netflix marvel superhero shows, 13 episodes is 6 episodes too many.

[spoiler] when they killed off [name redacted] and replaced [name redacted] with [less interesting name redacted] the show lost all its energy.

2017-12-30 06:47:16 PM
They forgot The punisher which is only out done by Daredevil.  And having any other of the shiatty marvel Netflix shows ahead of daredevil is an automatic fail for that list.

And I love mystery science theater, I own a good collection, but there is no way it's better than Stranger Things.

Fail list is fail list.

2017-12-30 06:48:10 PM
MS3k #1?
No, just no. It's a good show  but not #1.
Mind hunters is better. All it shows is they are hugely reliant on people who actually rate stuff. I did when I first started then stopped when I realized their ratings were skewed

2017-12-30 06:50:16 PM
did anyone watch dear white people? high critic score lowest audience score but number 3 on list

Seconded

WillofJ2: did anyone watch dear white people? high critic score lowest audience score but number 3 on list

It was one of the the better shows Netflix made.  They did a pretty good job of trying to balance the different viewpoints without being preachy.

They also do a good job talking about how hard interracial dating can be even if you really love your partner.

2017-12-30 06:55:55 PM
I didn't see The Last Kingdom on the list. I like that one. And Narcos should have been higher.

As far as movies, The Siege at Jadotville was interesting (plus it stars that hot Irish guy from The Fall.) Mudbound was also good.

WillofJ2: did anyone watch dear white people? high critic score lowest audience score but number 3 on list

It's a trend in the Critic score...anything remotely SJW themed was rated much higher than the audience score.

2017-12-30 07:01:56 PM
Well, that site was giving me shiat for having adblock (yeah I know i can get around it but I don't care enough to bother) so I'll take a guess, Orange is the New Black is sort of good but not as good as the first season when there was all the lesbian action. Jessica Jones is hot. The Punisher is finally a badass. Stranger Things is cool, the first season more so than the second. And there's a lot of Marvel shiat.

2017-12-30 07:05:08 PM

wolfemane: And I love mystery science theater,

Really? I'm a huge fan of the original and I love Felicia Day but I'm just not getting the new version.

2017-12-30 07:07:07 PM
Wouldn't it be more accurate to average the critic and audience scores, since the list itself shows how disjointed the two ratings can be? Am I more likely to like something that a dozen or so critics thought was great, but was deemed not too good by tens of thousands of regular people, just because the "critics" liked it?

I'm regular people!

And...since it's Saturday and I'm just sitting here anyway, here's what that ranking would look like:

watched and loved mst3k, stranger things and house of cards.  haven't seen any of the others, but only seemed like 3 or 4 that would be even mildly interesting to me

a lot of it is superhero stuff i'm not into or things that are a product of the times that will probably age horribly

Ozark / Sense8 should be ranked higher
One Day at a Time / Alias Grace should have been lower.
The rest... whatever.

MinatoArisato013: The Bestest: no Voltron?

Too many short seasons and I've heard mediocre things about the last two seasons.  Need to binge it this weekend.

Voltron started pretty strong, but has been weakening as it goes on. To put it another way, I did the first two seasons in a single day each time, last season took weeks, and I only watched the last two in a row because it was the night Stranger Things 2 came out and it wasn't available yet.

Should have been more specific.  I loved the original run of mst3k.  The Netflix one is ok, funny at times.  But for a total hokeyness fix I'd rather watch the Aquabats Super show (which should have been on this list).  At least my kids will watch that with me!.
