Chase is a vile company and deserves to be shat on in every way imaginable, Amazon and Visa can afford it, and KFC getting fake anything after years of fake chicken jokes is just funny.

/really who clicks on ads other than grandma?

It goes deeper. There's a lot of cloud computing revenue that's going to dry up when the house of cards falls. If you've been paying attention, you know that's the main reason for Amazon's newfound profitability and stratospheric valuation.

This is new? I was using AdWords about a decade ago and one report said I had over 100,000 views on ONE site and 200 click-throughs! Except a separate traffic monitor said that site had under 5000 total views for the same period and my own site's monitor recorded under 10 click-throughs from AdWords.

"and Ozy said it believed the audience was valid when it purchased it."

Wait, you bought traffic and thought it was real? It's literally bought, meaning it can't be real. You don't buy fake boobs then get to claim you thought they were real.

It's amazing how much the internet operates on smoke and mirrors. This is probably why so many content sites are going to affiliate links instead of just running ads... Affiliate links reflect actual purchase behavior.

And yet, in a few years, it's a certainty we'll find out how those are ALSO being gamed.

Wow, J.P. Morgan the victim of a scam.  I guess turnabout is fair play.

There have been fraudulent views/clicks as far back as there has been online advertising.  As part of one job I had, we were trying to track fraud like this, and I built some scripts to create traffic through a web of anon proxies (SEVEN!) and other services.  It's surprisingly hard to distinguish random, proxied traffic from normal traffic, especially if you're dealing with millions of transactions per day.

Bingo. AWS accounts for about 70%. Amazon is a cloud computing company that also sells & ships merchandise. That's the big "secret."

There was an article recently about mattress review sites that were gaming the affiliate links to the site owners benefit.

If you can find it, it's a good read.
