Agree with all your list except the Stoli Vanil. I find the Stoli flavoured vodkas are too sweet and fake-flavoured.

Absolut, imo, has the nicest generally commercially available flavoured vodkas. Absolut Manadrin + soda water + ice = summer.

The hippie arguement is a strange one. I like to think that a person should be able to do whatever they want to, as long as they don't endanger anyone else. You wanna get smoked out to the beejesus, go ahead, that isn't hurting anyone. Want to consume ethanol laced with an aromatic compound, be my guest. When it's bred for industrial purposes, they select for stronger fibers, bigger seeds with more oil, fast growth, etc. As a result, industrial hemp generally has around 1% THC, so it's pretty much useless as a drug.

True, but THC can easily be extracted and concentrated, so though I disagree with the law, I can see where it would apply to commercial hemp even with its low THC content.

Hemp is bad. We should not be making paper out of it (even though it's a farking weed that grows back fully every year.) Instead, it makes more sense to log national forests to make asswipe.

What can't they make out of Hemp? Clothing, hair products, health foods, paper... and now vodka.

Thankfully it looks like the US is starting to warm up to the fact that hemp is an extremely versatile plant with many uses. I am now able to purchase hemp-based hair styling goo, and am able to purchase unprocessed hemp oil at my local health food store.

I find it amusing that all the hemp advocates spend so much time trying to convince people that "hemp != marijuana." It's not that I don't believe them, but that they only have themselves to blame.

As a quick example, do a google for "hemp". Most of the top sites have the standard ramblings, but are also chock full of pro-marijuana news, ads for pot growing videos and "clear urine in 3 days!" Way to mix your message, guys...

I also find it interesting that although help is supposed to be some kind of miracle plant (which is legal to grow in other areas of the world), there is no major global hemp industry that US businesses are missing out on... But big business / capitalism is supposed to do anything to make a buck, so how could they possible miss out on this? Could it be that although hemp has some niche uses, that the widespread benefits are overstated?! I've love to see George Washington Carver participate in a hmlp-vs-peanut debate. :-)

And, before the inevitable flames come in... Legalizing hemp is fine by me. Hell, growing pot should probably be legal to. I just find most of the advocacy to be rather disingenuous.

It's not just that - beer and hard alcohols metabolize differently. Think of beer as the time-release alcohol. When you switch from beer to shots you're not just increasing the rate of alcohol consumption, you are still absorbing alcohol from the beer when you start absorbing alcohol from the shots. It's very easy to overload your capacity to absorb alcohol this way.

Actually, hangovers are cause by ethel alcohol. The amount in the booze. Vodka has a high amount. Beer does not.
