I'm not sure Pai would care even if all 2 million were real and supporting net neutrality. Republicans don't appear to care how any of this shiat looks anymore. Just look at their tax bill. Oh wait, you can't.

The poor whites who support Trump remind me of dogs.  Who gets rabies?  Dogs do.  What is the last thing dogs care about?  Getting rabies.  They'll jump into a fight with any animal, big or small, insane or batsh*t insane.  They just don't care.  It's the thrill of the fight that they love.  And, the comfort that you've protected your domain.

Trumpsheep are pretty much the same.  They rush in to basically raise their taxes or cut their services and they really don't care a whit.  Full speed ahead!

Am I saying that Trump-supporters are, on the whole, less intelligent than dogs?  I might be.  If you factor in loyalty and honesty, dogs are lookin' pretty sweet....

Heard the guy on the radio this morning. "To some people the free market doesn't matter" or something like that. What a douche.

I keep wondering if contacts from all those websites where you "click to contact your representative" end up getting considered bots.

"SEE! all those people who want neutrality are really Russian bots!"

Let's be honest, in this instance, the public comment period was just merely following the law.  But the law does not require the FCC to make a decision that reflects the position of a majority of the comments.  It merely has to "consider" the comments.  All the comments were really irrelevant.  The decision had been made before the comment period began.

Thanks for that.  I just started punching in surnames to get of sense of whether most of the comments were fore or against net neutrality.  (which for some reason seemed to be too much work for the person writing the "article")

After a few minutes, it looks like the majority were in favor of net neutrality with this one being the most common one I found:
I strongly support net neutrality backed by Title 2 oversight of ISPs.

Ending net neutrality will add tremendous cost to the economy at no benefit.  The investors have no interest in spending the gains extending high capacity internet to every American, which would help the economy.

Wonder if this is related to the Experian hack a few months ago.   We both had our information stolen, I sealed up my info quick and she didn't.  Maybe that was one of the motives....

Therefore America never does anything right?  Everything America does is wrong?  Loosen the grip on your pearls.  I don't like a lot of what happens either (including the butchering of net neutrality) but we often do things right as well.  It is the exact opposite of helpful to paint the picture that America is all bad all the time.  People like you, who want to pull the discussion to absolutes and extremes (in either direction) are very damaging to political discourse.

Let's be perfectly clear on this, because I think it gets lost in a lot of people and shouldn't be downplayed:

Pai is not 'Trump sucking'.  His shiat policy ideas long predate Trump. Trump merely enabled him to do exactly what he's always dreamed of.  The same goes for DeVos, Tillerson, and Pruitt.  They are not just 'following orders', they are fulfilling their deepest desires.  Trump just empowered them.

Wouldn't the number of comments be a red flag for them? I doubt they've ever received 2 million comments on anything. Most people probably don't even know what net neutrality is.

Hell they only got half a million for the Janet Jackson thing and that was during a time when 100+ million people were watching. Wouldn't they see the unusual amount of comments pouring in and think it was odd?

No.  You said "America never does the right thing".

When you exaggerate your point and say things that you don't really mean in the place of saying what you are actually thinking, people will take your exaggerated point to be how you really feel.  If it's offensive and/or a lie (and your post was both), that gets folks all worked up and they start firing off their own extreme statements.  At that point it's not a discussion, it's an argument.

That's how you sabotage a discussion before its even begun. Everybody drops into their trenches and fires off whatever they think will do the most damage to the other side and the discussion that should be had gets forgotten.  If you want to be helpful, say what you mean rather than going straight to the extremes.

How the hell do so many people not understand this?  It's elementary.
