Had a Soylent cacao for breakfast, so I'm sure to get a kick out of this thread.

Partner with these guys to produce a custom "Soylent" label with the same contents at twice the price. Everyone profits and fewer customers get sick.

I think its telling that Canada ruled that the "meal replacement drink" failed to meet the requirements of a meal replacement drink.

Wouldn't be surprised if the hands off approach the FDA has shown lately contributed to the valuation.

That said, my biggest complaint about Soylent has been the amateurish approach to health and safety by their leadership.  If Rosa Foods can guarantee a safe product with accurate nutritional information I can't be more outraged with Soylent than I am the many off-brand protein supplements.

Their current line of products really aren't environmentally friendly.  They need to make their products more green.

Thankfully not. At first, yes, but I chalked that up to suddenly adding a normal intake of fiber into what was previously a cheeseburger based diet.

Now my output is no longer visually reminiscent of soft serve ice cream ...

/I don't really like eating in the morning, so for me the Soylent works well as breakfast

After an eventful (and sometimes challenging) year for Soylent, co-founder and douche from every '80s movie Rob Rhinehart announced today that he will resign as the meal replacement shake company's chief executive officer.

Soylent Red/Pink would be much better.  Ground up Republicans.

Is he leaving to pursue some new humanitarian endeavors?

I thought that ground-up pinkos were commies and therefore Liberal Lefties?

In all seriousness though, I have this image in my head of this guy from a previous article linked on Fark a couple of years back that basically described the dude as an extremist minimalist who basically would be cool with all of humanity living in apartments that were more like caves (no heat or AC, little to no electricity, open windows if any at all...) and it all sounded just a little too close to cuckoo town. I'm not really sure how anyone could have confidence that someone so far off the res and such an extremeophile could possibly be a sound choice for creating and promoting a product with universal, mainstream appeal.

Think of Steve Jobs biggest mistakes all rolled into one, with no successes, if Steve Jobs wanted to live in a cardboard box and only wear a leather thong and penis cone. That's this guy. It sounds to me a whole lot more like the new CEO will actually have a shot at saving the product, even if he does sell out in the end.
