Amen, my uncle died there too, he is on the Arizona memorial, but since FARK has decided to abandon all class and mock those that died....

RJReves: Like so many major historical events, this was surrounded by conspiracy theories.

Did FDR know in advance?

Where did the supplies come from?

Was this being considered as revenge for some slight?

The truth is, we will probably never know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, exactly why Amelia Earhart bombed Pearl Bailey.

The supplies came from not knowing when the attack was going to come, or where.  This is rudicrous question.

If it happened today...

Hawaii is a blue state, so Boss Tweet would immediately complain that the Hawaiians expected the Feds to do all the defense work for them. He'd give rebuilding contracts to his cronies and then brag that the "President of Hawaii" told him he's doing a tremendous job, believe me.

Well, it's kind of hard to tell what you are dropping bombs on when you are blind.

You know there are some things you should joke about, and when you do, you make it patently clear how much of an asshole you both are.

In an interview I read somewhere, John Finn, one of the December 7, 1941 Medal of Honor recipients complains that the Japanese attack interfered with his morning activities with his wife.  Which is what made him so mad and fight so bravely: "Those SOBs messed up my nookie"

abhorrent1: They were only kind of our allie in that they were fighting against Germany but they were only doing it because they were pissed at Hitler for double crossing them.

The Soviets and the Germans were itching for a fight. From what I gather they'd have gone to war sooner or later, even if Hitler hadn't invaded in '41. They were both led by despotic madmen, sure, but if anything that made them natural enemies, not natural allies. Hitler hated commies more than Reagan.
