I can see where it'd be a good idea in a hotel lobby, for instance : you've got your Christmas decorations, but it doesn't take any floor space, plus it is safe from vandals.

Came here to say this, very disappointed only one other person has brought it up so far.

But yes, Christmas trees were ORIGINALLY hung(hanged?) upside-down from ceilings. I know the catholics of the time claimed it was to represent the holy trinity, but I'm not sure of the pagan link.

The trees also had candles in them. Little fires, in upside-down dead drying trees, hanging from the ceilings of wooden homes.
