FTFA: Von Cheetoface, Kasparov says, "operates in really a short-term environment. ... [T]he way he communicates with the world definitely shows lack of any strategical calculations."

FTFA: "The game of chess is game of strategy; of course, you have many opportunities to show your tactical skills, but foremost, it's about strategy. "

The people who are talking about how Trump is playing chess aren't going to understand the difference between strategy and tactics.

I bet you filthy Libs didn't know that Trump was the world champion Solitaire Peekaboo player. he hold titles in both the 'lights on' and 'lights off' game play categories, and he is currently conceptualizing a multiplayer Solitaire Peekaboo board game but that's big league hush hush stuff, Libs. don't want any of you stinky Libs stealing Trump's intellectual property.

In much the same sense that a five-year-old tee-ball player is out of the league of an MLB player, yes, Trump is out of Kasparov's league.. Literally true, not being a part of the same league, but probably not what you were trying to imply.

I'm somewhat the same way. Although I have to say I've gotten a little tired of Kasparov trashing absolutely everyone and everything that isn't his idea of a "perfect" democracy. I guess that's why I like Obama so much...he's a realist at heart and has said many times not to "let the perfect be the enemy of the good." I feel people like Kasparov are important to push us towards the perfect but I don't think he'd make a good leader himself.

Right on.  He understand the moves of power and grand strategem at least from which the world of chess and politics is not too disparate. Yeah, he would be a horrible leader and I wasn't suggesting that.
