Well, Seb, if you're so concerned about opportunity for young drivers, you can give up your seat ...

No way Williams pairs a young hot shot with Stroll.  Not if they want to actually improve.

Yes, because it's not like a lot of young drivers have gotten seats they don't deserve because of financial sponsorship.

Mehhhhhhhhhh..... Moto GP has been the best top tier racing class these past two years. Three teams that could win any race with potentially 2 more teams on the verge of competing for the top step of the podium. There's actual passing and actual personalities of the riders. I just wish it was back on a normal channel, not a third tier extra high rate pay channel.

I had no idea Williams had made an announcement - when did that happen?

They haven't yet. They tested several drivers at Abu Dhabi after the season ended, and are now evaluating results, contracts, etc. While some expect an announcement sooner rather than later they don't really have to decide until February. It's still speculation at this point.

If Kubica *does* get an F1 ride next season, it will be an amazing comeback, no matter where he ends up finishing for the season. And Vettel had better STFU and start out-driving Merc's *other* driver, the one not named Hamilton, while telling his engineers to build him a car that can keep up with the Mercedes machines.

Williams decision seems to have been narrowed to two after the tests.

Either they go with Kubica, who is seemingly on pace with Stroll but has unknowns over whether he can handle the physicality of the sport over the whole season (as he can clearly do a race distance), but would be a massive PR fillip for the team (which won't hurt with sponsors etc... Martini apparently prefer having an older driver for example)

Or they go with Sirotkin, who was apparently faster in the tests than they were expecting and almost certainly brings more money to the team than Kubica can, even with the aforementioned PR boost.

My gut is they sign both, with Kubica as lead and Sirotkin as reserve, and that it's Paul Di Resta that will find himself out on his ear.

Yep yep.   I think MotoGP is my favorite, with IMSA racing being an extremely close second (when they're not on an idiotic track that's too small for all classes).     F1 cars are awesome for what they are (well, until they went hybrid anyhow), not so much for the racing that actually happens in them.
